One of my favorite things as a devout Catholic is to go to morning Mass st St, Mary's. After I'd get up to watch the sunrise I'd go down to the coffee shop on Memorial Blvd and look out onto the harbor. Then off to Mass at St. where it happens that during our vacation week in Newport every summer that The pastor at St. Mary's swaps out with Fr, Shannehan the pastor of a church in Ireland. Who has always been a delight to talk with after Mass. Regardless whether your catholic or not the church is something to see. It is both classically traditional and quaint. As a matter of history it is where the Kennedy's were married.

Amazing stained glassed glass windows / arches / artwork - quite the grand experience & you can imagine Jackie walking down that impressive aisle. The religious & historical aspects of the lovely church are awe- inspiring & we enjoyed Mass with the good humored / thought provoking priest - even the parking was good!

St Mary's is a fine old Catholic church. John Kennedy and Jacqueline Bouvier got married here. Jackie spent much of her childhood just down the road at Hammersmith Farm. If you like churches it is a fine example and considered by some to be quite beautiful. It was the first catholic parish in Rhode Island. A fine place to stop and consider how the world would have been but for an assassin's bullet.

An average Roman Catholic church that happens to be the site of President John F. Kennedy's wedding, so they post a sign indicating there is a charge to sit in the pew for a mass? I've never seen that in any Catholic church before.

I am a parishioner at St. Marys and not sure what you are referring to. There is no charge to sit any where in St. Mary's, including where the Kennedys sat while attending mass at the church.

It is so refreshing to see an old church,so unlike the new modern ones that are not conducive to prayer--
