“Conductor very knowledgeable”
Reviewed 25 June 2014

Interesting. Views limited but conductor was very knowledgeable and willing to share historical facts. Use your imagination regarding what it was like to travel in the 1800's and this is a great opportunity to appreciate history.

“Nice informative tour”
Reviewed 20 February 2014

Nice trip through the Navel base and up the coast. Conductor was knowledgeable and entertaining. We sat in the Parlor car and were warm and cozy in rattan chairs. Not a huge amount of sites to see but still worth the trip.

We took the kids on the scenic 70 minute ride. It was great. Learned a lot during the ride from the guide. Train was comfortable and kept the kids occupied

“Very Disappointing”
Reviewed 23 October 2013 via mobile

Not my idea of scenic. Most of the trip was spent looking at overgrown weeds, albeit in full fall glory, and backyards. Then there was the landfill. If it's scenery you're after, save your money and walk the Cliff Walk or take a nice drive anywhere in Newport and vicinity. If you love old trains you may enjoy this excursion even without great scenery, but there's no need to waste extra money on the parlor car.

“A Railroad Trip Back In Time”
Reviewed 23 June 2013

This small railroad does an excellent job taking passenger on a fun train ride, and sharing information on many interesting things as they pass. The local flowers and trees, the Navy base, retired aircraft carrier Saratoga, the history of the railroad and the 1884 and 1908 passengers cars you ride on. The fare is a bargain, and for just a couple of dollars more... ride the parlor car... a former private car used by the President of the railroad. History, great scenic views of Narraganset Bay, flowers and trees, even explaining how clams are farmed in the bay... Great volunteers showing passengers a great time... Take all the family.
