Owner description: Popular Newport street filled with many shops.

First timer for Newport, but not the last. Only in the area for two days and that is not enough time to even see 1/2 of what this street (and area) has to offer. The shops are non stop. Food? forgetaboutit. BUT all are on the expensive side.

Thames street offers such a wide variety of restaurants and shops that it's hard to decide which to take advantage of when you have limited time. The menus in many of the restaurants are quite extensive making it hard to,choose. We also found most of the people in the shops to be quite friendly.

Nice place to shop and/or dine, especially if you are going to Newport, RI to see the mansions. Park at the visitors center if you go.

Thames street has not been overrun by international franchise outlets, although there is a starbucks & subway buried in the mix; it's a nice variety of eclectic local eateries & shops.

This is a tourist attraction trap with all the t shirt shops. I had hoped to wander and find upscale shops.
Not a good weekend away.
