Charming place. Went with another couple and each room was unique. Beds were comfortable. Breakfast was lovely and busy. Staff was pleasant. Location was also very good. Right in the middle of town. We walked to many shops and restaurants. Newport is a lovely destination for a quick get away.
We stayed at the Admiral Fitzroy at the end of April. Our room and the other areas of the Inn were clean and well fitted out. Proximity to town and on-site parking were a real plus. Staff was very courteous and helpful. Recommendations for restaurants and site-seeing were excellent, along with clear directions. The breakfast, which was included, was a great way to start the day.
We would stay here again when we next visit Newport.
We stayed at the Admiral Fitzroy Inn in Newport at the end of April. The Inn was clean, well appointed and in the heart of everything. Although we did a lot of walking around town & exploring, the Inn provides parking - a real bonus! even during the slower Spring season. The staff was friendly and efficient, and we especially liked the plate of cookies that was always available for snacking. Breakfast was basic - which was not a problem for us - we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a nice (not over the top) place to stay in Newport. One thing though.. during the summer the foot traffic may be noisy? since it is literally in the heart of the downtown fun.
We stayed at the Admiral Fitzroy the last few days of April. My husband is not an Inn or Bed and Breakfast type individual (or so he thought) due to feeling forced or pressured to interact with everyone. You can pretty much do your own thing with no pressure at all. The staff was gracious and warm as soon as we arrived. We loved our room, and though not "modern", it was the perfect fit for this Inn. Our stay was only for 2 nights as we explored Newport, however, we will definitely be back hopefully for a longer stay.
Stayed at the Admiral Fitzroy for a long weekend in early April to celebrate our Anniversary and had a great stay.
Upon arrival we were greeted by friendly staff and homemade cookies that were still warm. The gentleman at the front desk recommended restaurants and entertainment marking up a map and actually walked out front with us to point out different places and directions.
Our room was super clean, spacious and overlooked Thames St. The Inn and rooms are not super modern, but this is an historic Inn and not some trendy boutique hotel. We were looking for quaint and clean, which this Inn was in spades.
The continental breakfast was excellent, with a variety of fresh pastries, breads, cheeses, cereals, fruits and hard-boiled eggs to start the day off right.
It would be difficult to find a better location in Newport with everything within easy walking distance.
We will definitely being staying at this Inn again in the near future.
