I have to say you know you are getting the feel of being home when you help the staff take your dishes to the kitchen. It was hard to feel like i wasn't home. You couldn't ask for better inn keepers to own a BnB. Bill and Nancy are some of the kindest people that I have ever met. Our room was amazing and clean. Bed was turned down in the early evening. I had only one issue with the Whirlpool tub which was minor and Bill was all over it and followed up with me to ensure that everything was perfect. Breakfast we perfect and the mid evening tea or wine hour was a nice relaxing event where good conversation with the other guests/staff was great.

I would definitely go back to this BnB and for a 1st time BnB i was definitely spoiled.

Thank you Bill and Kerry. You made me smile when I read your review...we are glad that our guests feel as comfortable at the inn as they do at home, but we are here to pamper you! Next time you visit, leave your dishes on the table - we'll bring them in (unless you are just looking for an excuse to chat with us in the kitchen). We really enjoyed your visit, and watching all the surprises you arranged for Kerry unfold! Thank you for your review, and the "Best Vacation Ever" accolades. We look forward to seeing you again. Bill

When your first impression on entering a place is that it's clean, friendly and welcoming, that's a good sign. We were greeted warmly on our arrival, and taken up to our room so that we could be shown its features and how to operate them, from our own private Jacuzzi tub to a gas fireplace. Our feelings about the place only got better. Our room, the "Loft Room," had skylights and a light rain created a wonderful ambiance. The bathroom is enormous, with the tub and a shower enclosure next to it. The Cliffside Inn has turndown service, and we found a pair of the most decadent cookies we've ever had waiting for us. They alternate tea and wine days in the late afternoon, with trays of hors d'oeuvres and snacky things, and all of the other guests were friendly and easy to talk with. The breakfasts? Delicious! They prepare an individual pot of French-pressed coffee for each couple (probably for each single guest, too). They alternate sweet and savory breakfasts, and since we were guests for two days, we got to sample both. There's no feeling of slapping mass-produced items onto your plate.

The Inn has an interesting history, too, being the former home of an eccentric artist, many of whose paintings and drawings still line the walls.

We're already looking forward to being able to return to the Cliffside Inn!

Room Tip: We did hear from one guest that a room facing the parking lot in the main building received light from a street light--with any luck, the hosts will install room-darkening shades in that room.

Thank you for your visit with us and for your thoughtful comments about the inn. It's great to know that you will be coming back, ASAP... we are looking forward to your return. I was glancing through some of your other reviews from Newport, and was happy to see that you visited, and enjoyed, the National Museum of American Illustration. It really is a gem! We appreciate your support for Cliffside and look forward to welcoming you back. All the best. Bill

After spending the Christmas holiday with our family and friends, we like to close out the year with a New Year's Eve getaway to one of our favorite places, The Cliffside Inn in Newport, Rhode Island. Bill and Nancy are wonderful hosts who go to great lengths to ensure that your stay is a wonderful experience for you. The entire inn is warm and inviting, no matter which room or part of the house you happen to be in. The guest rooms and suites are well appointed with your comfort in mind, including comfortable beds, and linens, and soothing music playing in your room. The breakfasts are absolutely delicious and prepared to your liking, providing you a perfect way to start the day. If you prefer, feel free to just have a cup or two of freshly pressed coffee while you read the paper in front of the fire. Looking to venture out and explore the area or go on an excursion? Cliff Walk is right at the end of the street. If you are not sure on where to go or what to do, Bill and Nancy are always available to provide information on local activities, restaurants, shopping, nearby attractions, etc. And after returning to the inn from a full day of fun or shopping, what better way to wind down the afternoon than with a glass of wine in front of the fireplace in the main parlor. At the end of the day, when you are ready to go to sleep, there's that finishing touch of seeing cookies on the nightstand and the bed turned down. The staff are all courteous and professional and as committed as the owners to making your stay a great experience. We are looking forward to our next stay here.

We stayed in the Carriage House this time and it was wonderful. Loved the bathroom with whirlpool tub, dual sinks and shower with rain head. We ordered a bottle of wine after the afternoon tea and Tamara was nice enough to bring it to our room with two glasses when she did the turn down service. Turn down service is such a nice touch...the cookies are delicious. Despite the rain we took a walk out to the fire pit which was still lit and could imagine ourselves relaxing there in better weather. Nancy and Bill are wonderful. Plenty of suggestions for dinner and breakfast was delicious. We will be returning as fast as we can!

So glad you were able to get a break from the kindergarteners and come visit us again. It was wonderful to have you back. How funny that there were two guests from Hingham here at the same time.

There are still lots of rooms for you to try and we look forward to having you back soon. Hopefully, before next year's winter break.

All the best,
Nancy and Bill

My wife and I stayed in the Garden Suite on 2/17. All we have to say is WOW! Every detail is done to perfection in the entire place. We loved the 2 floor aspect of our room, the heated bathroom floor and towel rack and the oversized whirlpool tub. A fireplace on EACH floor added an impeccable touch. Both Nancy and Bill were wonderful hostesses. Nancy reviewed a map of Newport with us in detail upon arrival. Bill created an outstanding array of breakfast items...and both seemed to really enjoy conversing with their guests during breakfast. Cliff Walk access is also about 75 yards away...and although it was a little snowy and icy....it was a great view and walk of the RI coastline. The Cliffside Inn is an outstanding B&B that we will be sure to frequent again in the near future.

Thank you so much for your kind words. We really do like chatting with our guests and getting to know them. We have great guests and that makes our jobs wonderful. I'm so pleased that you enjoyed the Garden Suite. I just wish you could have stayed with us longer. Maybe next time?

Warmly,
Nancy and Bill
