Just returned from Newport's Cliffside Inn and stayed in the Blue Room, cheerful, feminine, and so pretty! Its window seat offered oceanview vistas to complement the beautiful blue hues of this room. The bathroom's shower was a wet and welcome respite after a day's walking tour of the ever incredible mansions, nearby and accessible. What was so great was the fact that the Cliffside was suitably named. My daughter and I checked in on Mother's Day and it was wonderful to stroll down to the Cliffwalk, and not have to worry about parking the car elsewhere. We returned just in time for some wonderful wine and appetizers. Breakfast was ample and delicious. Kudos to Debbie, for her help and hospitality.
I had no idea of the Cliffside's history, and became intrigued with its former occupant, Beatrice. All I can say is that this mysterious, enigmatic woman is probably smiling down on the Cliffside Inn, a beautiful retreat after a fantastical day immersed in the Gilded Age.

What a wonderful review! I think Beatrice is smiling too and hopefully still painting! It was great to have you and your daughter here for a mother's day celebration. Thank you for choosing the Cliffside Inn for your special day.

We hope to see you here again soon.

All the best,
Nancy, Bill and Koty

We recently stayed at the Cliffside Inn for an anniversary celebration. We make it a point to stay at Inns included in the Select Registry as we value the recommendations. This wonderful Inn far surpassed any others that we have visited. The Atlantic Suite was impeccable, from the 3 fireplaces (one in the huge, double person jet tub bathroom), to the extremely comfortable bed. We slept so well! The cliff walk was a stones throw from the Inn. We walked to Thames Street for dinner both nights, and came back to drink our wine next to the gas fire pit which was lovely. Breakfast both days was incredible, as was the wine and hors-d'oeuvres in the evening. Everything about this Inn is exceptional and we thank Bill and Nancy for making everything so special! We will be back!

Thank you so much for choosing the Cliffside Inn for your anniversary celebration. It was wonderful to have you here and we are thrilled that you enjoyed the Atlantic Suite. That pass through fire place is really a lovely feature of the suite. Bill always says that you could dance the tango in that bathroom.

Thank you also for writing such a great review.

Warmly,
Nancy and Bill

Our recent stay in the Cliffside Swann Room (third floor) was delightful. The bedroom was very cozy with a remote control gas fireplace, flat screen TV, a four poster bed and lots of windows. The bath was very functional and immaculate. You'll find white bath robes in the closet. From the welcoming smiles upon check-in, to the décor and architecture, the meticulous maintenance both inside and out, the incredible breakfasts and accompanying service, the daily complimentary wine and cheese hour at 5 pm, to the Inn's signature cookies left on your night table each evening, the Cliffside Inn does it right!! Let's not forget its location in a quiet section off of Bellevue Avenue, about 100 yards to the Cliff Walk. There is plenty of on-site parking. A true gem.

With our Cocker Spaniel, Pearl, we spent three nights at the Cliffside starting on March 31. The location is ideal, especially for pet owners, since it is away from the hustle and bustle of Newport and a short block from the cliff walk. We chose the Cliff Suite, one of the three pet-friendly suites in the Seaview Cottage. Our accommodations were large, comfortable, and included everything we might ask for: a living room, bedroom with a king bed, library with a gas fireplace, and bathroom that featured a whirlpool tub for two and separate shower. There were THREE TV sets and a refrigerator. Upon entering our suite for the first time we noticed that a bottle of wine for us and treats for Pearl had been provided. In the main house, the nightly wine and cheese hour was a nice touch. Our breakfasts were exceptional. Cinnamon roll French toast, and crabmeat omelets were among the offerings. French press coffee, fresh granola, yogurt, fruit, and juices were always available. Highly recommended!

We miss sweet Pearl - and the two of you, of course. We really enjoyed having the three of you here with us. It was great getting to know you and sharing time at the wine hour. Koty is looking forward to a return visit too.

We recently stayed at the Cliffside in Beatrice's Room. It was a second floor room both the bedroom and the bathroom have an ocean view. The inn is meticulously restored and maintained. The food is a 10 and the Cliff Walk is just down the street maybe 100 yards. I could not find anything that I think could be improved.

Room Tip: Beatrice's room has two bay windows to the front of the house, both with ocean view it is a real winner.
