“Great Location---Elegant Public Rooms”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 November 2011

We stayed here for one night with another couple, and found this B & B to be very nice. Our rooms were fine, and the foyer, dining room and other public rooms were very elegant, with beautiful woodworking. It's located in a quiet, upscale residential area within walking distance to several of the Newport mansions, and only a short drive to the wharf area with its restaurants, shopping, etc. (park in the garage next to the visitor center and you get 30 minutes free if you go to the visitor center). The inn's location away from the crowded touristy areas near the town center is a real plus---gives the inn a more relaxing atmosphere than other Newport B & B's. Breakfast is served on a huge dining table, and was excellent. The proprietors were friendly and engaging. Parking is on site in a side lot, and even though the inn appeared to be full for our stay, parking was adequate. The room prices were reasonable for a luxury Newport B & B.

We stayed at the Ivy Lodge for 2 nights , November 13 and 14th on the first floor Library room. Our stay was really nice. Place is lovely and extremely clean and well taken care of. Daryl and Darlene, the innkeepers are very friendly and accomodating. Breakfasts are yummy. Restaurants suggested by the innkeepers were also wonderful. Inn is near the town and the mansions Mansion tickets can be purchased at the place for a discounted rate. All and all it was a wonderful 2 nights. Tom and Rosaleen

Ivy Lodge is a Stanford White designed Newport home with wonderful guest rooms, fabulous breakfasts, ample parking, and, best of all, traditional B&B charm. Located in the Mansion District, and a short drive to town, this B&B is a terrific respite for a Newport Vacation.

Room Tip: Choose a room with a spa tub! Fabulous!!!

My wife and I stayed here for a few days on our honeymoon; I had found them through a search engine and loved how it looked in the pictures. Trust me when I say the pictures do not do it justice! This place is gorgeous! And if I could have rated the cleanliness higher than a 5, I would have! It was spotless! Breakfast each morning was delicious, and the innkeepers were very nice and very welcoming. We stayed in the Turret Room, which was very luxurious, and we made good use of the whirlpool tub and the gas fireplace! We simply can't wait to go back!

My husband and I really enjoyed our stay at this B&B. The house itself is lovely, warm & comfortable. Darlene was very helpful with restaurant suggestions etc.

My wife and I went with another couple and stayed only 1 night. The Inn is really nice with the "Grand Staircase" and charming rooms. We had the "Sutherly Suite" with its gigantic bathroom and 2 person shower. The Inn is located very close to the Mansions and Cliff Walk. Very nice walking neighborhood. The only complaint (if you can call it that) was there was only 1 cooked item for breakfast, a gourmet omelet, our friend doesn't like eggs. Small item but would have been better it there was a choice. He was too shy to request something else. We would definitely go back!

We had an exception time for our romantic get-away. Darlene, Daryl and Heidi were great hosts. They provided all information requested for site-seeing, made reservations for dinner and events, and were extremely pleasant during our entire stay. The Inn is located very close to everything so you really don't have to drive anywhere. We stayed in the Van Alen Room and it was wonderful. The bottle of champagne, some beautiful flowers, cheese tray and our two person spa was not only romantic but peaceful and enjoyable. Breakfast served each morning were exceptional meals. They were delicious along with a beautiful presentation. We will definately be coming back again for our next trip north. I would recommend this Inn to anyone who wanted to go to Newport.
