This place is a gem. The grounds are beautiful and decor is lovely. They have done a wonderful job in tastefully decorating the house in keeping with the Victorian period. Our room was gorgeous and clean. Our hosts were extremely friendly and accommodating. For instance, the wifi was out of action and I noticed that they went out of their way to get it up and running again quickly. There are also drinks (water, tea, coffee) and snacks (fruit, raising and health bars) available downstairs 24/7. There is parking on site and the location is about a 60 second walk from Bellvue Avenue and a 10-15 minute walk to some of the major sights.

We love the Ivy Lodge! The rooms are absolutely beautiful, all individually decorated, spotlessly clean and obviously lovingly maintained. The building is a mansion, and the architectural details and the craftsmanship are fantastic. It always feels like a privilege to spend the night there. Darlene and Daryl are consummate innkeepers and there is nothing they won't do for you and nothing they don't know about Newport. Stay nowhere else! Oh, and did I mention the breakfast? Gourmet all the way, and prepared to order by Darlene and Daryl. Fantastic!

Very clean & well run bed & breakfast. Our room (library) was very nice, bed comfy. Different main breakfast every day- also fruit & cereals available. Snacks & tea & coffee available all day which was nice. Very close to the mansions & cliff walk & we could walk into town & to the harbour very easily . We didn't need to use our car all the time we were there. Lots of nice restaurants nearby.

My husband and I spent five wonderful nights at Ivy Lodge last week. It was the quietest week we've ever spent in Newport, probably because we went from Sunday til Friday, instead of the normal weekend travel time. The inn is just lovely! Breakfast is something delicious every morning, always starting the day off with the best homemade granola I've ever tasted. I spent part of each day of our stay sitting on the wrap around porch either reading or crocheting, relaxing on the wicker furniture, enjoying a cool breeze and the wonderful weather. Our hosts Daryl and Darlene were most hospitable! This wasn't our first stay at the Lodge, and I know we will go back. The entry way is breathtaking, the rooms immaculate and the location is close to everything. It could only be better if breakfast were served outside on that great porch!

Room Tip: We've stayed at Ivy Lodge three times. All rooms are beautiful! We were given B&B gift cards...

Thank you for your kind review and coming back to the Ivy Lodge. Many years ago, when looking to buy a bed and breakfast, I said upon my first impression of the Ivy, I'd buy this place just for the porch alone . . . my husband said, you don't buy a place for the porch. As you can see, in this day and age, the Ivy's wrap-round porch is priceless. We are so glad our guests get to enjoy that part of the house, it signifies, yes, you are on holiday and it's o.k. to linger, read and listen to the birds. If the kitchen was not on the opposite side of the house from the porch, we would serve on the porch. That said, you can bring beverages and snacks to enjoy and certainly any starter from our initial breakfast offerings to the porch, entrees can only be served in our dining room. We wish you a beautiful fall and look forward to your next visit.

Wishing you fair winds and safe seas,

Darlene

stayed in the Turret room. It was amazing! The whirlpool tub was awesome and the room was so calm and relaxing. The rest of the house had so much charm and was so nice to look at all the features. The price was managable as i booked it last minute and got a great deal. The innkeepers were very police. The only think i woul dof hoped for is the breakfast menu had more of a variety. The fruit and yogurt was good but maybe something more than just eggs. Our stay was very pleasant. We will be coming back again.

Hello, We are happy to hear your stay was enjoyable and please to hear you'll be back. We rotate our entrees: one day sweet, one day savory. On any day, if you want something savory when we're offering sweet, please let us know and visa versa on the savory. We want to make you happy in all facets of your experience at the Ivy Lodge.

We have been staying at the Ivy Lodge for many years. As we often stay at B and B and inns in our travels we have experienced many good places, but none is better than the Ivy. From the beautiful structure itself, to the smallest details, this B and B is first rate. The owners are helpful, friendly but don't impose themselves on guests and are eager to fill any reasonable request. The breakfasts are sublime and the kitchen is flexible if you prefer something other than the featured preparation of the day. The rooms are charming and immaculate. We have met so many interesting and charming other guests there. A great place must attract great people who appreciate casual elegance. This trip we took our well behaved 8 year old grand daughter who was comfortable and welcomed by guests and staff alike. It was a kick to be able to introduce the third generation to the Ivy since we had taken her mother there when she was a teen. Newport is a great place to spend a vacation with its many attractions besides the beach and the Ivy is well located to facilitate enjoying most of them. We often never take our car out of the parking lot from the time we arrive until the time we leave since we can walk to the beach, the mansions and to downtown restaurants. If you read any negative reviews, be highly skeptical of of them. This place is tops.

Room Tip: Every room is lovely

My husband surprised me with a last minute get away for my birthday but since I'm so neurotic he wanted my opinion on the Inn before booking it. Only a few hours later the room we wanted was booked out for one of the nights. My husband called the Inn and Darryl was very helpful. He offered us several options, of which one of them was that he could call the individual who booked the room for one night and see if he would be willing to switch rooms. We didn't want to put anyone out of their way so we said it wasn't a problem for us to change rooms and left it at that. Darryl also offered for us to check in early. Unfortunately with traffic we got delayed and did not arrive until 3:30pm which it seems everyone else did. Darryl was very nice and accomodating, appologizing for not giving us the tour and taking more time because of all the guests that arrived at the same time. After he showed us to our room he followed up with a phone call to make sure everything was good and to see if we needed any reservations made.

Breakfast every day was delicious and alternative options where available as well as special dietery requests where all met.

The Ivy Lodge is very nice, decor is traditional and very tastefully done. Many common rooms available to guests. The only negative comment I have is the heat. There were wall AC units around the house but it was so hot we couldn't enjoy the common areas at all. Our room was smaller than I anticipated but it was still nice. We didn't spend too much time in there anyway since there is so much to see around Newport. The room was a bit too hot, being asked not to turn it down past 72 degrees was one of the biggest negatives of the stay. Perhaps if it wasn't so hot outside that would not have mattered but with the heat and humidity it wasn't as comfortable as I would have liked it.

Location is excellent. It's only a few blocks from the Cliff Walk (a must see), around the corner from The Elms Mansion, and about 1 mile from the Newport Waterfront. If you visit you must do the Ocean Drive...it was certainly a highlight for us.

Overall we had a nice stay and would definitely return in the future.

Thank you for your review. Yes, you are absolutely correct, the week you were in was very humid. As of this week, we installed an additional A/C in the dinning room. We have also applied film on our western and southern windows that deflect the suns rays, we can tell the difference. Yes, the humidity was brutal the week you were with us, not the usual for Newport's summer weather. Hopefully you will come again and the weather will be calmer. We are pleased you enjoyed your stay. If you can get away the next time, we recommend, September and October for your next visit, climatically two of our favorite months.

Thank you for choosing the Ivy Lodge for your Newport accommodations,

Darlene
