Hydrangea House Inn
Ranked #5 of 95 Newport B&B and Inns
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed 25 August 2014

The Hydrangea House Inn is perhaps the perfect retreat to recover from a day exploring The City of Newport. Dennis and Grant have created a sublime atmosphere from the delicious breakfasts served in the dining room to the amenities and decor of the rooms. We had the pleasure of staying in the Chesterfield Suite and enjoyed the two person jacuzzi, fireplace, four poster bed complete with a very comfortable double sheeted mattress, and the bathroom suite with double headed shower with steam and heated towel rack. However, the lure of a B&B is the personal touch, and the Hydrangea House does not disappoint. Robert, the evening manager's recommendations of the area provided a comprehensive, informative and varied tour of all the Newport area has to offer. Others on trip advisor have adequately described the convenient location of the Hydrangea House and many of the attractions in Newport. If visiting take the time to have Robert provide suggestions, your time with him will be well spent.

Room Tip: The Chesterfield Suite, while on the second floor, was spacious and well appointed.

My wife and I stayed at the Hydrangea House Inn to celebrate our one year anniversary in Newport. We have stayed at many hotels in Newport but found this one to be the best yet! Lovely property with back deck and gardens and classy décor inside. Robert was very helpful and answered all of our questions. We stayed in the Hydrangea suite and thought that it was very well kept and very quiet even though located on Bellevue Ave. Breakfast was cooked fresh every morning and delicious and not to mention the fresh baked cookies every night hit the spot. Walking distance to pretty much everything and very unique place. We will back!

Excellent accommodations and location for seeing Newport mansions and harbor. We walked everyplace, no problems. Included was free parking, but we never moved the car. The folks at Hydrangea House extended every hospitality expected and then some. Breakfast was very good, but not extraordinary. Our room was very comfortable and well appointed. Overall, we would highly recommend the Hydrangea House.

Room Tip: Go with the Chesterfield Room, bilevel, very spacious.

What a wonderful retreat from a rain-soaked jazz festival. The beautifully appointed Oak Room with its majestic canopied king bed, two-person spa tub and shower, fireplace, and more than 600 square foot floor plan was the epitome of opulent comfort and warmth. Breakfast was truly a daily gastronomical delight. Grant, Brian, Robert and Lisa could not have been more welcoming, attentive, responsive, helpful, caring or delightful. Return visits are a must.

What a lovely, comfortable, and charming Inn! Loved everything about it! Tucked away and private, yet sooo convenient to everything anyone would want to do in Newport. The staff so very professional, and at the same time friendly, knowledgeable, and very accomodating. The breakfasts were beyond delicious, and the presentation in the beautiful dining room just beautiful!! Vanderbilts and Astors eat your hearts out!! Thank you, Dennis, Grant, Robert and Lisa!! Hope to see you all again!! Andrea B N.J.

Room Tip: Only experienced my own, which was excellent --but I am sure they are all great.

Perfect in every way from the room we had, to the excellent breakfasts, the location and the friendly and excellent staff and owners. We were treated more as friends than as customers. The wine and cheese hour was a very nice touch to decompress and kick back in the late afternoon. The communal breakfast gave us a chance to meet and chat with other guests and that was a really nice experience. When we come back to Newport this will be the place we stay at again.

This was our first experience at a B&B and we loved it!

My husband wanted to stay at a Bed and Breakfast in Newport. I surfed the web and found this place. It looked nice so I took a shot. I was very pleased with my choice. The Hydrangea House was beautiful inside and out. Their staff was impeccable, not to mention their delicious breakfast. I would definitely go back for another stay.
