The room was fine, the location was great, however, this is not a hotel for a quiet, romantic getaway. We asked for a quiet room & were put in room 204 - not only could you hear everything happening in the Rhino Bar until 1am, you could hear throught the walls & ceiling. There are absolutely no sound barriers in the walls & we could hear people's conversations all around us. Unless you like to party all night, do not stay at this hotel! Our request for a quiet room was completely ignored - we would never stay here again.

I saw some not so good reviews of the hotel, but figured they were isolated incidents blown out of proportion. We got there about 1:00 pm, I asked if and early check in was possible. No, it wasn't. We were allowed to park the car but had to wait until 3 to check in. When we got in, I was bringing luggage into the bedroom and noticed the waste basket had not been emptied. I told the desk, they sent a guy up to change it. Next I was looking at the mini kitchenette and opened a cabinet door to see old stale crumbs all over the inside. I cleaned it out. Next we noticed it was quite warm in the room. I turned th AC all the way down, but it didn't get cool. I told the desk, they sent a guy up who claimed it WAS working because he could feel air coming out. But it wasn't COOL air, I said. He said just wait a while, it will cool down. We spent that night sweating in the bed. Next day I call again, same guy shows up and says that is just how they are. He says he can get us a fan. That night we slept in the hot bedroom with a noisy box fan running. Next day I call AGAIN, this time a guy with tools comes in and says the control is broken, he will get a new one "after lunch". Finally he comes back, takes down the suspended ceiling in the kitchen and fixes it. Next the bathroom. The vent does not work, the jacuzzi keeps shutting off, it is very cramped. Some light fixtures have burned out bulbs, the living room had some kind of gnats that would buzz us. We were happy to leave. I did go to the mgmt about the AC and was generously comped. Problem is, we did not want to be comped, we wanted a nice 4 night getaway which turned out to be quite dissapointing. Upon checkout, the lady said they were going to renovate, but it "takes time because it is so big". Next time we will go to the Marriott, some place that is not a timeshare where the owners wont pay for renovations.

We stayed here despite the previous reviews and our stay was ok. We stayed in the 1 bedroom townhouse on the 4th floor. The townhouses have 2 balconies, one on the main floor and one on the 2nd floor. Both balconies run the length of the townhouse, and the whole wall is sliders and large windows, bringing in lots of light. The main floor has a livingroom with 2 couches, a TV and DVD player (bring your own movies or they rent limited titles for $2/night), a diningroom table, a half bath, and a kitchenette with a small refrigerator, microwave, sink, and dishwasher. The second floor is loft style, with a queen bed and full bath with a jacuzzi (no TV on second floor).

I found that, like previous guests, the units need to be updated. It seems the bathrooms were recently updated, yet the carpet and furniture was very worn. The bed was fairly comfortable but worn, and the pillows were horrible. We were traveling with our 6 month old, so the kitchenette was a dream come true, and it also allowed us to put her to sleep upstairs while still enjoying the downstairs. My 2 biggest complaints are the staff and housekeeping. Housekeeping didn't do any vacuuming the whole time we were there. One day they left dirty wet faceclothes in the bathtub. Seems like all they did was straighten up a bit and make the bed. The staff was super unfriendly, never even looking up as we came and went. No offer to help with bags when coming or going, and didn't seem to hve any interest in their guests.

The location of the hotel is great, parking is easy, and the view spectacular. However when coming back to Newport we will not stay here again.

I went to Newport for a romantic getaway with my spouse and we booked a room at the Bay Club, through their website. We got a discounted rate and upon arrival we got a bottle of wine in our room, which was from the Vineyards. The suite was incredible and the staff was extrememly nice. The Front Desk helped us with restaurant reservations and greeted us every time we entered or left the resort; very nice group of people. I've read reviews on this website and gave them the benefit of the doubt...I'm glad I did! I will definitely return to visit.

We are preparing for our 2nd nite of a 1 week stay...last night was terrible...room 205..music from the Rhino bar downstairs went on until 1 am...smoking young people gathered outside our window and we were treated to profanity and shouting until the Bar closed! This was a time share exchange and I will never ever come back to the NBC..the staff offered us a different unit which was a handicap #304..and after talking to the housekeeping staff I was told that everyone who ever gets #205/206 ..has to be moved...How long does it take to get them to get the message...The unit which is a one bedroom with limited kitchen is very worn ..the beams show the evidence of many water problems.. furniture is dirty and dated and the one plus the windows are fairly new and do open! It is situated right in the middle of the action and so for many folks that is a great plus, it does save alot of parking fees.
