“Great small inn!”
Reviewed 19 June 2013 via mobile

We are driving the east coast and stayed at the attwaterinn. I found the inn on trip advisor and glad I did. The rooms are clean and have everything you need. The bathrooms are small but work well. The beds are very comfortable!!(sometimes hard to find). They serve a nice small breakfast. There is free parking. They even give you an iPad with suggestions of where to eat, things to do, and anything else you may want to find in the area. We would stay here again!

We had a wonderful time at the Atwater in Newport. The staff is very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the breakfast and all day cafe. The king suite room is like having your own apartment. The inroom iPad is perfect for planning your day. Great location as well, and it's nice having parking where you can walk to most everywhere. We will be coming back.

Bob R.

Room Tip: The king suite rooms on the third floor are quiet and roomy.

Thanks for your recommendation and for sharing your guest perspective on our large king suites. Apartment-like is a nice description for our sizable Newport hotel suites! We are so glad you enjoyed our flexible all-day cafe, iPads and the service of our resident managers, Megan and Brad. Please visit The Attwater again when you visit Newport next.

We booked a room last minute at the Attwater. It was a spacious suite on the top floor (all that was available) with a comfortable sitting room and capacious bedroom with a king bed. The decor is modern and eclectic but extremely well done. An excellent breakfast with many choices--not your standard bacon and eggs and home fries. All guests are provided with an I-pad with a map and local food options. The waterfront is within walking distance as are many of the old Newport homes. We would certainly go back if there were space available.

We celebrated our recent anniversary in Newport and stayed at the Attwater- and it was a great experience! Breakfast was adorable with homemade scones, our suite was incredibly designed and comfortable and the staff were incredibly welcoming. Hands down we will be staying at the Attwater the next time we are in Newport!

Highly recommend this small hotel in Newport. Great location away from the touristy area but still an easy walk. Great eating options within walking distance. Great decor and comfortable sitting room downstairs. Our room 3rd floor at the back on left hand side was quiet small, so maybe research room sizes available. The airconditioner was very noisy. Breakfast was adequate but could benefit from less "sweet" options and more protein based options. Be aware there are 2 flights of stairs if this may be an issue for you.

Room Tip: enquire re room sizes as ours was a bit cramped. cant remember the room number but it was 3rd floor...

We are glad you enjoyed your stay and enjoyed the decor and guest lounge. We appreciate your review. Our petite queens are the smallest of our room types and are indeed intimate. We endeavor to accurately name and describe rooms and provide square footage on our website. We hope you can try one of our 500-square foot King Suites upon your next visit to The Attwater.

This lovely boutique hotel is ideally situated in Newport, only a short stroll from the shops and restaurants. The room was modern and clean with a really comfortable bed. The shared areas were all beautifully decorated and maintained. The complimentary breakfasts, cakes and coffee were great. The hotel runs a point system for the snacks and breakfast which means you can eat as much or as little as you want for breakfast and use your remaining points for a snack later. The wifi reception was a little patchy on occasions but as it was complimentary it wasn't a problem. Parking is provided next to the hotel and in an overflow car park next to the art gallery across the road - a real bonus given the location. We stayed 3 nights and would happily return or recommend it to others.

Stayed at the Attwater at the end of May. This Inn is a gem. We had a little trouble the first night but that was quickly fixed. We stayed in the King Suite and it was a very nice room, spacious and well appointed. Loved the Apple TV. The décor reminded me of the Mandarin Oriental hotels, simple yet well done. Bed was very comfortable. Main areas are inviting and I spent mornings in the lounge drinking excellent coffee (always a fresh pot available) provided by the Attwater. Breakfast was a nice assortment of muffins, scones, baked frittata or quiche, all excellent. Brad and Megan go to the extreme to make sure that you are well taken care of while staying at the Attwater. One note of caution, there is no elevator in the hotel and the rooms are on the second and third floors. Brad will carry all your luggage and when I tried to tip him he would not accept the tip, saying, “ this is my job”.

We loved being called "a gem" (and being compared to the Mandarin Oriental doesn't stink, either!). We are so glad you enjoyed The Attwater and the service of Brad and Megan. Your kind and thoughtful words mean a lot. Please stay with us again when your travels being you north.
