“nice two-day stay in Newport”
Reviewed 2 November 2013

My wife and I had a great time in Newport. Our stay at the Attwater was very nice. Room is tight but it was fine since we did not spend a lot of time there. Brad was great in welcoming us and getting us set up. Parking was a breeze across the street. Great location that allowed us to walk to all the shops, restaurants and bars. Would highly recommend this for couples. Breakfast was wonderful. Warm scones and fruit each morning.

Room Tip: Our room was on third floor. No elevator. It was fine for us. Just a heads up for others before you...

This small hotel was located in a wonderful location for all the things we wished to do including an after dinner stroll to walk off the amazing food to be had in Newport.
Bed was VERY comfortable and lay out and design of the place was exactly as the photos show but the bathrooms were tiny and I'm so "over" shower curtains in bathtubs! after the type of re-furb that was done I would have expected more in that area!
Breakfast was rather basic but on the whole a nice little place with friendly staff.

Thank you for your review. We are so pleased that you enjoyed your comfy bed and the decor at The Attwater, as well as our quiet location so near all the activities of town. You'll be happy to hear that the bathrooms are undergoing renovations in January. We hope you'll join us again to see the new look.

Just recently my wife and I stayed at The Attwater.Upon arrival, The Attwater lived up to everything we were expecting. We were greeted at the Front Desk/Cafe by Megan one of the General Managers. She quickly checked us in and provided us with everything we needed to know to make our stay as nice as possible. Later that day, I needed to take care of receiving documents electronically and getting them back to the sender ASAP. Brad, the other GM stepped right up and made this possible. The physical property itself is awesome. It is a quintessential smaller boutique hotel. We stayed in the one of the suites and the pictures you see online are what you get in person. Very comfortable beds, easily adjusted climate controls, nice TVs, free wi-fi,and a well done bathroom.
Ihigly recommend The Attwater should you visit Newport, RI.
Cheers,
Chris C.

we were looking for a place to stay on the way home from cape cod and we had never been to that area. found this one online and booked it, much more pricier than we usually do, but in that area, it seems the norm. parking was at a premium, impressed with light breakfast and full time coffee/snack area. the employees were all very nice and pleasant. everything was new and fresh, we were allowed the use of an ipad. we didn't have to walk very far to anything and enjoyed our stay here and in the town.

My husband and I stayed here for one night on our anniversary in September. Since I was pregnant at the time, I was very happy to be greeted with yummy baked goods and tea. The back deck was the perfect place to enjoy our snack. We stayed in a petite queen room, which was on the small size, but not a big deal at all. We felt we had an enough room for the night. The room doesn't have a closet, but there is an area to hang clothes if you need it. The room was very clean and the bed was comfy. We were very happy to have found a trendy place to stay in Newport that didn't break the bank. Breakfast the next day was wonderful. Very happy it was included. My only suggestions would be for the owners to add more shelves in the sink area of the room and put a hot tub out on the back deck :). We would definitely stay here again and look forward to trying out other Lark properties!

I first visited The Attwater in Spring 2013. I loved the location, vibe, and friendly staff. I just completed a stay and cannot say enough about the property, the innkeepers, and the Lark brand. My schedule means I often miiss the fabulous breakfasts, but my hosts made sure I didn't miss out with a delicious sampling of goodies pre-bagged and left at my door early in the morning. Fabulous. Thank you.

Stayed at The Attwater from 10/7-10/10. It was a great experience. The hotel was walking distance to everything you wanted to do. Brad & Meg made you feel welcome as soon as you checked in. The iPad you were given was very helpful. The decor of the hotel is charming. Our room(#33) was bigger than I thought it would be. We loved the delicious breakfast which included a hot quiche two of the mornings we were there. The fresh baked chocolate chip cookies were a real treat. I would highly recommend The Attwater.
Also I want to let Brad know we made it home with no bad weather!
