we are here on a timeshare exchange.. everyone had to move cars to another lot as there is an 'enviromental problem' here which, i am told, will be a long process to repair. if we had known of this problem, we certainly would have exchanged elsewhere.

Stayed at the Wellington April 2006. Very nice timeshare. Clean, 2 decks, beautiful view of Newport harbor and Newport Bridge. Short walk to shops and restaurants.

We had a girls weekend here and the five of us stayed in a 2 bedroom. While the fixtures in the bathrooms were dated the rooms were clean and very large. The kitchen did not have a stove, but did have a microwave, toaster oven and electric fry pan. The best part was the view off the deck of the boats and cruise ships. We were too busy to use the pool, but it did look inviting. It was a perfect match for location and size for our group. We would gladly stay here again

My husband and I came to Newport on a whim. We got to the travel center (which is extremely helpful and packed with info) and saw this hotel listed. I looked beautiful and serene in the pictures...just ehat we wanted. We called and was told there was availablity. $200 for a reg. room and $400 for a suite. When we got there we realized that the "resort" was actual a time share.
We had to walk way on the other side of the building to get to our room. Once in, the room was dingy with just a 2x4 window overlooking the street. The sheet quality was appalling with the extra pillows in the room not even having cases on them. I also never felt clean in the room. My feet turned black from walking on the floor. The jacuzzi was broken and only turned on high which actually was painful. The TV was about from 1980 and lost all cable on the second day there. Across from us, but sharing the same main door, was the suite. This did look nicer but not for $200 more. Also this room door stayed open the whole time which I thought was bizarre.
I was excited though b/c they did have a big lovely pool overlooking the ocean and an indoor one that my husband would like. Upon getting there however the indoor pool was under construction (no one told us this even during check in) and to get to the outdoor pool from our room (which was on the side of the building keep in mind) we had to walk back to the "lobby", under scalfolding (the hotel is also under construction), through a walkway that was littered with paint cans and drop clothes and around to the pool. Also you had to bring your own towles which I felt was completly unacceptable.
The Wellington advertises that it is in walking distance from shops and restaurants but it is a good 8 block walk to the fancy ones on the water which I wanted to play tourist at. There is no bar or food in the hotel. Not even a snack machine that I could find. To get ice I once again had to walk to the other side of the hotel and actually got so turned around could not find it. ALso there never seemed to be anyone that worked there around to help.
The last straw was when I was informed that for maid service the next day (we had used all of our towels at the pool) was an extra fee. I had already paid $200 for nothing!!
If you are a timeshare with no added amenities tell people that when they call!! This hotel is one big false pretense. The traveler can do much better in Newport.

Overpriced! We spend $500 per night for a 1 br suite. Space was was nice, but unit was not clean. Bathroom needed major updating. Fixtures were old and dirty. Sofas were stained and worn (actual wear holes in the fabric!). Kitchen was dark oak with plastic counter tops. The thermostat is shared with another unit - very inconvienent. The overall unit condition was tired. Typical 1980's condo that has not been updated. The staff was remote and disinterested.

I can understand the high prices due to the waterfront location, but there is not excuse for the lack of cleanliness and poor appearance. A better option based on previous stays, is the Marriott or Hyatt.
