“#1 Experience in Newport”
Reviewed 30 October 2013

- VIEW- the view alone was the highlight of my trip to Newport. I recommend arriving early before your meal so you can take pictures/drink cocktails on the lawn in the Adirondack chairs. If the weather allows, you must sit outside!
- Service- our waitress was great and very knowledgeable. She had a larger table and when she would get caught up taking care of them, another server would come to check on us to make sure everything was okay
- Food- came for Sunday brunch. I ordered the local cheese plate, and lobster roll. The lobster roll is the best I have ever had!
- Atmosphere- there was a live jazz band outside at the foot of the deck which topped off the whole experience

- Bees! There were quite a few bees that bothered us and kept landing on our food. If you have an allergy or are extremely terrified, it might be better to sit inside

We came for Sunday brunch and ate outside on the veranda. It was the highlight of my trip! The food was delicious (a bit expensive, it's true, but that's why we came for brunch instead of dinner). I recommend arriving early to hang out on the lawn. We also stayed for an hour after our meal and just enjoyed the scenery and watched the sailboats go by. It is probably one of the best view you will ever have!

This was one of the best meals we had on our trip. The restaurant is pretty and has a lovely view. Our server, Lisa, was wonderful. I had scallops that were delicious. I would have preferred an actual serving of mashed potatoes than just the light drizzle of them as like a sauce, but it was very good.

“Superb Food and Staff with stunning views over the Ocean”
Reviewed 23 October 2013

This was one of the best places I have eaten in this part of the States. It is just outside newport on Ocean Drive so you need a car or taxi if staying in town. It's a lovely hotel with a super restaurant based in a large conservatory or eat outside weather permitting. They have a lovely bar with heaters which is half inside and half outside. The seafood is excellent and the staff are informed and very attentive. We had a super lunch overlooking the ocean after having done a few of the wonderful mansions in the area. It's a great view. It's more expensive than some of the restaurants in town but lovely for lunch. I imagine dinner there would be wonderful. But to recharge after exhausting morning visits to the wonderful and opulent houses in this area it's must. Book if going after 1pm it gets very busy. Excellent wine list.

“Been here many times”
Reviewed 21 October 2013

The view is unsurpassed, the food is always outstanding as well as the service. Make it a day event, you can sip cocktails while watching the hundreds of sailboats/ yachts go by then have dinner or brunch, undeniably the best spot in newport. I was married there in 2004!

“Food is excellent but service is lacking”
Reviewed 15 October 2013

The cuisine is definitely excellent. Enjoyed the butternut squash-velouté, foie gras, scallops, swordfish preparations--all noteworthy. And the wines by the bottle and half bottle were impressive. But both times we've dined at Castle Hill we have left feeling under attended. We've noticed an inconsistency in the service from table to table. We were served soup with teaspoons, while other tables were provided soup spoons. We poured our wine for ourselves a few times. Other tables doing the same five-course menu, were offered a choice of dessert, and coffee after their meal when we were offered "can I get you anything else?" as they handed us the already prepared check. When you pay $400 for your dinner, you feel each lapse in service, including when no one says goodnight as you leave.
