We just spent 2 nights at the Vanderbilt Grace and really enjoyed our stay. The building is gorgeous. Everyone is so friendly, accomodating and has a can do attitude. Joseph at the desk is topnotch. We stayed in a Loft suite which was lovely and very quiet. Dinner at Muse was fabulous but watch out for the pre-dessert and post-dessert!

Spa services were friendly, relaxing and professional. This is a dog friendly property and everyone was very nice to our black lab. The location, in town, is wonderful for walking around and the nearby restaurants. We had a great visit.

The good news:
1) Before we even arrived I had already given this hotel five stars in my mind. How could I not after receiving an email asking me what fragrance I wanted the room to smell like, types of pillows on our bed, and even asking if I will need any baby products, dog items, or flowers upon my arrival?! Nice, right?!

2) Rooms seem to have nice big closets if you need it.

The bad news:
1) Little tiny ants were crawling around the table where the continental breakfast was set up.

2) Despite specifically asking for a room that we would not hear the garbage trucks we were woken up by them anyway at 6:30am.

3) We had to stand around waiting for a bellman to take us to our room despite the fact that we only had an overnight bag. The wait was a bit annoying since the only reason was so that he could get a tip. Just like most hotels the room number signage would have clearly led us to our room.

4) The TV was not working properly

5) Although the main bed was very comfortable, the open up couch was far from relaxing.

So, you see, although I honestly DID want to love the Vanderbilt Grace a lot of things worked against that love connection.

Room Tip: Although it was beautiful, try not to stay in room 207 if you are not an early riser.

Pleasurable stay. All employees are very courteous and helpful. Attention to detail and personalized service is top notch. Dinner at MUSE restaurant wasn't excellent with great service staff. The bespoke room services are a real nice touch to personalize ones stay.

This is an excellent hotel, with a warm, hospitable, quiet, and somewhat European atmosphere. The staff is very friendly, and helpful. Rooms are comfortable and clean, and the (large) indoor swimming pool is great. Fitness room is not very large, but then again this is a small hotel, so demand is also modest (I never had to wait). When we stayed there, the weather was not too good, but the hotel is well-situated, and there is plenty to do in Newport. With nice paintings on the wall, a beautiful snooker table, and a free continental breakfast, this was our favorite hotel of our 10-day trip through New England. Not really suitable for small children though (which is a plus for us).

What a beautiful property! Boutique property in an excellent location with staff that are prepared to assist you have a wonderful stay. We were fortunate to have a week here at the end of a frenetic holiday and we felt pampered and looked after. Champagne on arrival, fruit in our room, coffee and tea pod machine and accomodating my specific tea request. Magnificent view from the deck over the habour, sensational meal in the Muse restaurant. Marina the General Manager was a consumate professional and very interested in all her guests ensuring they felt welcome. This is our second stay at Grace properties (we have stayed at the Grace Santorini) and we will definitely be staying with them again. Thank you for a wonderful stay

When you stay at the Vanderbilt Grace you do not feel like your in a hotel , it is like a personal second home. The location is perfect for privacy or quickly walk to the corner for action. We can't say enough about how helpful everyone was while we visited. Food and drinks were great ! We will be back.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 206 and it was perfect for us and our 2 children.

Just a few blocks from the main drag of Thames Street, but completely secluded once you enter their doors.

The staff is first rate offering many small but thoughtful surprises - free champagne during check-in and as part of the free continental breakfast each morning, free water and grapes on arrival and free water/chocolate with turndown service each night as well as water placed in the car on checkout, etc., etc. They even personalized our menus in the hotel restaurant having been told it was our anniversary.

Both restaurants were excellent, with Muse offering a meal that could easily rank among the finest in a major metro.
