We found the Victoria Skylar B&B in a random search for a place to stay for a night after a wedding in Newport. We ended up staying for the whole weekend and having a great mini vacation. Our room was large and airy with handsome Victorian furniture . The bathroom was modern and spotlessly clean. The house was beautifully decorated with antiques and fresh flowers. Our hosts were pleasant and helpful but not hovering. Breakfast was fantastic --truly a gourmet experience with fresh baked goods; and a delicious complete breakfast. This B&B is located on a quiet , residential street in "The Point" which is the oldest section of Newport. The streets run down to the bay where there is a park and a beautiful view of the Newport bridge. Newport shopping, nightlife and beaches are minutes away. In a city where parking can be a problem , this B&B offered off street and safe, free on street parking.

I was visiting Newport RI and spent the night at The Victoria Skylar Bed and Breakfast. It's to the right just as you cross the bridge. I stayed in the 'Slater Room' and I don't believe I've ever had a more restful night sleep anywhere except at home. We walked downtown for dinner and shopping and left the next morning for a day in Boston. I think one night there is worth two nights rest anywhere else.

Thanks Joanne and Derrick!

I have to say me and my husband have stayed in many Inns throughout New England and the Victoria Skylar is one of our favorites. My husband had just come back from a year in Iraq and we stayed at the Inn for part of our honeymoon. The Inn Keeper Ann was so wonderful. She was helpful in helping us decide on a restaurant as well as helping us with suggestions on what to see during our stay. We talk about her often. We were even pleasantly surprised to receive a lovely Christmas card from her and her husband this year. We left feeling more like family than just a guest. The breakfast was wonderful and very filling we didn't even have to eat lunch we were so full from breakfast. I highly recommend the Victoria Skylar Inn.

Great weekend! Wonderful food! Clean and very comfortable room! We spent our 39th anniversary with this B&B after checking out other B&B's in the area. We could have been closer to the shopping but have no regrets! Ann and Dereck were wonderful hosts and great conversationalist. Ann really is a good cook and served a delicious breakfast in a very warm and elegant dining room. Dereck and Ann were friendly and knowledgeable of the area. We were delighted to find a half of dozen red roses, box of Godiva candy and a bottle of Champagne waiting for us in honor of our anniversry. That was a treat and put the frosting on a nice evening. We highly recommend this B&B and will be reserving again when in the area.

enjoyed a two night stay at this bed and breakfast, incredible breakfasts ( not the usual muffins and toast ) really gourmet. The location was convenient for walking into town and down to Narragansett Bay. I stayed in the blue room ( not the actual name ) loved the bathroom with the jacuzzi tub. We especially enjoyed the backyard with the garden for coffee in the morning. Can't wait to return
