My husband made arrangements for us to celebrate our fifteenth wedding anniversary in Newport RI with Romana and Charles at the Armistead Cottage Bed & Breakfast. When we arrived, we were amazed by how beautiful the front porch and entire house looked from the outside. We were greeted by Romana and it felt like we had known her forever. She is very friendly and inviting. She gave us the tour, and brought us to the Victorian Room. The room is exquisite. The entire house is well maintained and REALLY clean! And the breakfast! WOW! A 3 course breakfast with all you can drink coffee/juice. We highly recommend staying here. It's about 15-20 minute walk to the port, the shops and boat tours. It is about a 10 minute drive to the mansions and cliff walk. You will be very happy if you stay at Armistead.

We needed to get away before our second baby was born, Staying at the Armistead Cottage was like staying with friends. Looking for some ideas of what to do, Romana recommended Fort Adams to watch the sailboats. We were so relaxed, and happy to sit and watch the boats. We took the tour, and ate a snack. We also noticed the Murder Mystery at the Newport Art Museum. It was very interactive, and a great date night, unique to Newport. Before we left on Sunday afternoon we walked the beach and dipped our toes in the water,
Romana has towels and chairs if you need them. She made a lovely breakfast every morning. Fruit muffins and a hot dish, like frittata. It was very delicious, and filling. We skipped lunch one day. She provides off street parking, that is a huge relief since the parking can seem pretty hectic and stressful.

The Armistead is wonderful B&B owned by Romana & Charles... We stayed in the Lilac Room.
So exquisitely decorated, I never wanted to leave! The house is tastefully decorated with antiques and Romana's beautiful stained glass. The front porch is a lovely place to sit with other guests and share a glass of wine. Romana's breakfasts were delicious, baked fruit, homemade muffins, juice plenty of coffee and conversation. They are both experts in the culture of Newports' attractions and restaurants. My husband and I had a wonderful stay and highly recommend The Armistead Cottage.

We recently stayed at Armistead Cottage and had a wonderful experience. This was our second stay - we were here 4 years ago when we got engaged, and this trip was no less magical when we came to celebrate our anniversary. The location was ideal on a nice quiet street in a residential area, but just a short drive (or slightly longer walk) to downtown, the Cliff Walk, and the beaches. Everything was clean and comfortable, and the large front porch was great for relaxing with a glass of wine in the evening. Romana and Charles were wonderful hosts, and the creative breakfasts served were a delicious and satisfying way to start the day. We always feel welcome here, and can't wait to return in the future!

We visited mid week with my mother and two sisters- all girls vacation. Good special and would definitely stay here again with my husband next time. The B&B was immaculate and quiet.I shared the pretty Lilac room which was more spacious then the room my other sister and mom stayed, but all were well decorated,tv, Wifi, and comfy. Evening chocolate and cookies in our room was a nice touch..The spacious porch is great in the evening and I suggest you bring wine and enjoy the peace and quiet....The host,Ramona, was so gracious and gave good advice to definitely drive down Ocean drive for a scenic shoreline view and the easiest portion of Cliff walk for my mom to see. She was tired after 4 house tours in one day!!We saw the Breakers on a different day-in order to not get overwhelmed by the Gilded Age... Ramona has been to Venice many times and gave great advice for my next vacation.

Room Tip: Opt for Lilac room or other room with tub for extra space.

This was our second stay and it was every bit as wonderful as the first. Romana is warm and welcoming from the time you step in the door. Our room was beautiful and immaculate as is the rest of the house. We are free to use the cozy sitting room, as well as the large comfortable porch. There is a fridge packed with cold drinks available at all times. If you have time, stroll through the "Carrot Room". It will definitely make you smile. Romana is very knowledgeable about the Newport area and is always willing to provide input for planning daily excursions. It is a delight to wake up to a beautifully set table and a yummy breakfast made specially by Romana herself, along with a morning conversation and a lot of laughs among other guests and Romana. Upon checkout, we couldn't help but kiss and hug Romana goodbye like leaving an old friend. We highly recommend this B&B, and are looking forward to our next visit. ---Cyn &Sal from NY

My wife and I spent the weekend here for our anniversary. It wasn't our first trip to Newport but was out first stay at the Armistead. We will be back. I can't say enough. We were both very pleased. We loved the location. Close enough to cliff walk and downtown, but far enough away that we felt at home. The place is lovely. And spotless ! I'm a neat freak, tne placd is seriously clean. And the room was cleaned to perfection. Furnishings are antique and well maintained. Bathrooms and building fixtures are new and all work as expected. Romana is a perfect hostess and a blast. Also and outstanding cook. Breakfast was killer ! It was a faboulous fun place to stay.
