Traveling alone to Newport to run in a half marathon I found the most warm and welcoming place to stay at the Armistead Cottage. My room had a fireplace and a private bath. Everything was very clean and the eclectic decor was fun. Ramona and Charles provided information about places to visit while in Newport and after a day of running, touring mansions, visiting the vineyards, cruising on a schooner, and eating at Anthony's and Castle Hill - Armistead Cottage was the perfect place to return to in the evening. And the breakfast was delicious and filling. Such a nice place to stay.

My husband and I were so happy to see that Romana and Charles were still operating their B&B. We had stayed there 6 years earlier and found the home beautifully furnished, the food gourmet, our hosts welcoming. We again had the same wonderful experience and felt like we were visiting with friends.

You will feel at home as soon as you enter the house. Romana and Charles are a lovely couple who go the extra mile to make you comfortable. The room and whole house has so many interesting things to see from the carrot museum to the huge porch. All the food is homemade and delicious.

Returning to Newport and Southern New England is always a treat. Returning to the Armistead B&B starts it all . Romana and Charles make you feel at home as soon as you walk in and if you return as we did, it feels like reuniting with true friends. Their home is a charm and Romana's love of the carrot is an attraction as well. Their pride in their home and the community is an asset giving all the right suggestions to enjoy Newport. . We'll be coming back again and staying with Romana and Charles is a must. JS

My husband made arrangements for us to celebrate our fifteenth wedding anniversary in Newport RI with Romana and Charles at the Armistead Cottage Bed & Breakfast. When we arrived, we were amazed by how beautiful the front porch and entire house looked from the outside. We were greeted by Romana and it felt like we had known her forever. She is very friendly and inviting. She gave us the tour, and brought us to the Victorian Room. The room is exquisite. The entire house is well maintained and REALLY clean! And the breakfast! WOW! A 3 course breakfast with all you can drink coffee/juice. We highly recommend staying here. It's about 15-20 minute walk to the port, the shops and boat tours. It is about a 10 minute drive to the mansions and cliff walk. You will be very happy if you stay at Armistead.
