This hotel is horrible. The shower pressure is so low I couldnt even get the suds out of my hair, meanwhile I am stuck to the shower curtain its so tiny in there. There was only 1 sitting chair, a crooked tv that wouldnt fit into the old fashioned tv cabinet, someone left a match on the bathroom floor which was never swept up, there was dust and filth all over the door handle to go outside, I always go over things with a lysol wipe, take a look at just the handle to go out. (below) The housekeeper picked up pillows off the floor and put back on our bed.
We were cold because the heater was blowing cold air istead of heat, there was no room for putting make up and hair brushes, and they even want you to re-use towels when their bathtub faucet was leaking like a sive. The view would have been beautiful but the seal on the windows were all broke and the windows looked like someone poured milk inbetween them. how disappointing! We went outside even thou it was cold, and our neighbors out there were smoking so we had to come in again. This is also a Marina, they must have plenty of money yet dont even update their rooms, what a shame. I am shocked at the good reviews and wonder if they paid people to write them. The $12 breakfast buffet was rubber eggs and cheap sausages , not worth $2 for that meal, we saw 10 walk out this morning!
Do I have high standards, I guess I must because we will never return there for sure.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review on your recent stay. We certainly appreciate your constructive criticism as it helps us as we strive for continuous improvement. We take any feedback to heart and immediately investigate any and all comments forwarded to us.

We would like to mention that 32” flat screen televisions were recently purchased for all guestrooms and are stored at an angle in the armoire that has the ability to easily swivel outwards. We felt that larger televisions with HD programming would better suit our guests’ desires and we have received a number of compliments. Thank you again for your comments and we hope that you will reconsider staying with us again in the future.

This hotel's location was perfect for our quick weekend. Since parking is such an issue in Newport (even in the off season), we were able to leave our car in the lot of the hotel. the room was fine and the rates were reasonable. There was an indoor pool, so for February, it attracted LOTS of families. It was the school's winter break, and there was a winterfest going on in the town, so lots of familyfriendly stuff was available. Overall, it was very convenient and pleasant,

Room Tip: Harbor view was nice.

This is a wonderful hotel with great views of the harbor, very clean rooms, and excellent and attentive staff. The food from the restaruant Pier 49 is outstanding. It's right in the middle of shopping and restaurants. I had a great visit and I look forward to coming back again during the peak season!

My teenage daughter and I checked into this hotel at the last minute, making a reservation very late on a Friday night for Saturday check-in. We just needed an escape! Looked online and saw that this hotel, where I had stayed years ago, had a winter weekend getaway at $124/night for a harbor view room, including parking (usually $15/day) and full breakfast. I asked for a room on an upper floor and this was put into the computer. We planned to visit a mansion the next day and could have selected a package that included a mansion visit, however as my daughter is a minor, her ticket to any mansion was $5.00 at the gate, so that package feature would have been more expensive (included two adult tickets at $20 each).

Well, you need to know that Newport accommodations are WILDLY expensive and that any room at the seaport is unapproachable by the average family in season. So, I was happy because I knew the location and didn't care too much about "service." I was not paying the $430/night in season rack room rate!

We got to the hotel early and went in to see whether we could leave the car and explore, knowing that we were early........the lovely gentleman at the desk greeted us warmly and IMMEDIATELY got on his cell phone/walkie talkie to ask housekeeping whether our room was ready. Very, very kind and accommodating. We checked right in.

Our room was on the 4th floor with a spectacular view of the harbor, the docks below us and the Newport Bridge in the distance. My daughter was enchanted with the view and sent photo texts to her friends. The furniture in the room was old, New England style.....nothing fancy, but just fine, I was not purchasing the place. Beds were clean, as were the room and the bathroom. Bathroom was small, but had everything in it......and no, there is not enough room for one of those "housewives of........." show characters to bring all their beauty products and lay them out.....get over it people, you are in Rhode Island where women are real and are not spending all day doing their hair! There was adequate space for a real Boston girl, let's leave it at that. The bath products were nice.....and this is one place that provides something useful.....body wash instead of that "lotion" that I'm sure most travelers never use. Towels were fine and plentiful. Plenty of hot water. There were two hotel robes in the room which we were able to enjoy. A Keurig machine in the room with a selection of complimentary Kcups. The television was not flat screen (gasp!!) but got quite a few channels, so I'm sure if someone came to Newport to watch TV they could survive.

The hotel includes WIFI, but my daughter's laptop requires an ethernet connection. We could not get it to work, called the desk, and within 5 minutes a wonderful hotel staff member was knocking on our door and getting it started for us. Very kind, excellent service.

We asked for a map of Newport from Concierge Services at the hotel, and this was cheerfully provided. There were ads for restaurants on the map and we used our wifi connection to google the restaurants and choose a dinner destination (see review of Brick Alley Pub).

The hotel is right alongside the docks/shops/tourist area, so we did not need our car but walked everywhere except the mansions.

Had a great night's sleep and our breakfast at the hotel restaurant the following day. Breakfast was good (waffles and sausage/omelette, home fries, toast) with choice of coffee or a large glass of juice. Waitstaff tried hard to please and was accommodating. The breakfast room was chilly.....it is right on the ocean and it is winter.

We had a great time and cannot say enough about the friendliness of the staff of the hotel......hard to believe some of the reviews. We will definitely take advantage of this getaway in the future. Thanks Newport Harbor Hotel and Marina!!

Spent a night in the off season at the Newport Harbor Hotel, great location on the waterfront in the center of town. You can walk to local shops and restuarants. Nicely appointed, clean rooms, nice indoor pool. Bathrooms are small, but not a problem. Off season rates are great, did not have a chance to eat at the restuarant.

Room Tip: Hotel has harbor views or city views. Both views are great, cannot go wrong with either

My husband and I decided to go to Newport to celebrate his 65th birthday on January 21. We go to Newport at least once a year and most times stay at the same B+B....on Clark Street and pay around $115 + taxes in winter. We like that fact that we can park and then only a brisk short walk to downtown without getting back into the car....or paying for parking. This visit to Newport was on a wkend of a small, yet messy snowstorm so we looked into staying somewhere even closer to downtown becasue of the weather. I googled the Newport Harbor Hotel and Marina and found that they had a "winter get-a-way" special that included not only the room and "gated" ticket (free) parking, but also a full breakfast for 2 as well as all room TAXES in one low off season price of $109. This price was for the "city view" room but when we got to the hotel and heard that due to the weather, people had cancelled, we asked for an upgrade to a Harbor View room. The gentleman at the desk, who was not the friendliest (I don't even think he greeted us when we walked up to the desk, heck I don't think he even made eye contact) did give us a room upgrade and at no additional cost. The room was average, clean, had an older TV, Kureg coffee maker, 2 bottles of water, wonderful view of the harbor, beds comfy, bathroom small, and not really anywhere to put items other than a small glass shelf over the pedastal sink and on the toilet tank top....(and toilet was sluggish)...but for the price it was just right for a last minute weekend get-a-way for 2.

The hotel lounge/bar was very small, dark and a bit chilly. It left alot to be desired as far as any ambience but there were people sitting at the bar having cocktails and talking with the bartender who was very friendly even though she did use her fingers to put the limes in the drinks!!! What is with that with bartenders and servers???? I think there were tongs nearby or at least toothpicks but she did not use any. There is a restaurant in the hotel but we opted to go to Brick Alley Pub where we have never been dissapointed. But....they also use their fingers when putting the "fruit" in the drinks!!!! UGH!!!

We were given 2 vochers at check-in for the breakfast in the morning at the hotel. It was very good and very filling. My husband got the omlet, homefries, toast and coffee and I got eggs, bacon, homefries, toast and coffee. Big portions and bottomless coffee. The dining room was a bit chilly, but the server was very nice.

All in all this hotel was a great find and very affordable for a wkend winter get-a-way. I am not sure what the prices are "in season" but can only assume that they are much, much higher than $109 with everything included. Will look into "in season" prices but will definetely return for another "winter get-a-way"!! :)

Room Tip: In Winter, ask for a Harbor view on second floor and up. In summer I would probably want a ground f...

We have stayed here several times. I really like the location - right in the heart of downtown Newport. Easy to walk to MANY restaurants and shopping. The rooms are very clean and nicely updated. The bathroom is a little small for a weeks stay (no countertop to put your toiletries bag), but we are usually only in town for 1 or 2 nights. Beds are very comfortable as well. This last time we went with a "Wharf View" thought is was a great view of the water and boats at Bowen's Wharf. We park when we arrive and no need to use the car again unless we want to go to the beach or mansions. Nice area right on the water/harbor to sit outside on a nice day and just enjoy the beautiful view.
