I recently spent some few days in Newport and I picked up this hotel looking at the pics on the net. The hotel best part is the location..after that the rooms are small and lacking of maintenance, the swimming pool is dirty and you can easily slip just walking if you don't pay attention. There are no wi-fii access out of a very narrow area close to the restaraunt and the sun-deck is not well kept. On the other side the resteraunt is nice, with good food and reasonable prices. The staff is helpfull. The overall impression is that the price/quality ratio is not very good at least in our case.

This was our first trip to Newport. We stayed 3 nights at the Newport Harbor Hotel.

The staff was friendly. It was easy to check in and out.

Room:
Very comfy pillows and there were a lot of them! The room smelled funny, maybe a little moldy. The bathroom was tiny. There was a very small place to put toiletries. The shower was not as clean as I would have liked. There was dirt on the bottom of the tub.
They provide a hair dryer, q-tips, and cotton balls as well as the usual soap, shampoo, and lotion.

They provided 2 free bottles of water to the room per day.

They charge $15 a day for parking.

This hotel is in a fantastic location, central to many fun places to hang out, walk around, and relax, but there are other places to stay in the area. I would look for room at those places first.

We stayed here the first week of July for 2 nights. We had a water view room which was the best thing about the room. The hotel needs renovation. It reminded me of an outdated Comfort Inn. The rooms are small but clean. The furniture is nothing special. The bathroom needs the most work. The toliet worked fine but had a strange way of flushing. The shower and the sink had rust on the drains. There is no wifi at this hotel which was as an inconvenience. The location of the hotel is excellent. That is the main reason in addition to the water view for why I booked it. We could walk to the visitors center, Thames, and Broadway, etc. We did not eat at the hotel restaurant as it seemed just as tired as the hotel. We sat down but decided to leave as it was too depressing. We had great meals at other places, Christies and Tallulah's. We also went to the Spiced Pear at The Chanler. Essentially, Newport Harbor and Marina was just a place to sleep. The airconditioning worked fine and I don't recall the hallways being warm. It was great being so close to Bowens and Bannister Wharf but I will stay elsewhere next time.

Booked a harbor view balcony room online and was put in a room overlooking the roof and the street. I arrived in the late evening, but called the hotel 3 days before arriving to let them know of my late arrival and to hold the room and then called again on my way to the hotel and they told me that it was in fact noted on my reservation. Of course, since there was a convention going on at the hotel, there were no other rooms available. The hallways are not air conditioned, so on hot, humid days, the air in the room becomes very damp and when you run the air conditioner, it becomes cold and damp. So the sheets and towels and clothes are all damp. The shower did not drain properly so every time I took a shower, I was standing in a pool of water, the same with the sink. And the drains were corroding.
Had breakfast at the hotel restaurant and the couple who arrived at the restaurant 15 minutes after we placed our order, received their breakfast before us. The waitress had to pass my table to get to theirs and did not even acknowledge that there was obviously a mix up. Did I mention we were the only 2 tables occupied at the time.
The pros to the hotel would definitely be its location. You can literally park your car in the hotel lot and walk to everything. The rear of the hotel where the marina is, is very nice (would have been nicer to sit on my balcony overlooking it if I got the room I asked for). The bed was comfortable and the sheets were soft, not stiff.
Be sure to put your do not disturb sign on your door before you go to bed at night as the housekeepers will knock on it at 8:30 am looking to clean the room.
Overall, the hotel is in need of a complete overhaul including the front desk staff (except for the consiere who was very pleasant and helpful). All in all, had a great time in Newport but not such a great hotel experience.

We stayed here because we wanted to be near the harbor, and paid a pretty penny for a room with the harbor view. It was a lovely view, and the windows opened with screens, so we enjoyed that. The room was nice - on the small side but still comfortable. The bathroom was quite small, however, and obviously old. The room had good a/c, but when you went out in the hall, the heat hit you - the halls are not air conditioned or are the elevators. The best place to sit outside and look at the water is on the deck off the indoor pool room. You can have drinks there, so it is pleasant in the afternoon. Restaurant had decent food, but when we were there for dinner, you had to eat outside. This would have been nice, but they had musicians singing and playing loudly early in the evening. I would have enjoyed them had I come for drinks later on, but it was too loud during dinner. Food was good, though you cannot order room service for breakfast the night before. We went down for the breakfast buffet, which was standard fare.

We had a wonderful room...the location was superb....right next to the yachts at the marina, and close to shopping and sailboat trips. Had a ground floor room which was beautiful. Kingsize bed was really comfortable. Staff was very accommodating...especially Brad the manager. The pool area could have been a little cleaner, but still was great. This place could have been tweaked a little bit here and there, but it was wonderful. All of the newport hotels are costly, but if you book in advance there is a good discount. Had a ball!
