The hotel is very well situated for visiting the Tennis Hall of Fame, the mansions and all of the other attractions of Newport.
A short walk away. A bonus was that most of the ATP players stay here and it was fun to mingle with them. The rooms are fairly standard and not luxurious but are fine. The breakfast was good. Valet was quick and efficient. No problems at all during our stay. Recommended.

This is a really nice, smart hotel though I do have a few minor gripes. Our room was very nice, but you could hear people walking around in the room above. The bath tap dripped non-stop, which was really annoying (and it had obviously been doing it for a long time as the bath was brown and discoloured where it dripped).. The sink had such low water pressure it was really difficult to use. There were nut shells and a bottle top under the bed, so the room had not been cleaned properly.
The pool was nice and always deserted.
My main gripe with the hotel is that there is no self-parking. You have to use valet parking. We phoned through 15 minutes before we wanted to leave to ask them to collect our car, but after 30 minutes when I enquired why it hadn't arrived, they had not even gone to fetch it.
Newport is a beautiful place and this hotel is very handy for everything in the resort.

It seems like there were several issues while you stayed with us. Thank you for taking the time to write a review. We appreciate all comments whether they are good or bad. This way we can improve our service and accommodations. We are glad to read that you found our pool to be nice. We truly apologize for the issues you encountered while using valet service.

It's hard to compete with those stunning Gilded Age mansions, but this place can hold it's own.

In fact, my room looked like it belonged in a mansion. Stunningly decorated it was a delight to spend two nights here.

Situated at the start of the upper town road which leads to all the mansions, the location was excellent. With valet parking whisking my car away, all I had to do was swan in and up to my room.

The bed, pillows, shower, towels and toiletries were all fine, not fabulous, but fine.

The room held a fridge, flatscreen TV, working desk, easy chair and a Keurig coffee machine. There was no iPod dock, but the WIFI was free.

I highly recommend this hotel in gorgeous Newport.

Another fabulous hotel ideally located to all the amenities and town of Newport. Valet parking was convenient though the $34 per day parking fee was steep. Our room was great with a very modern en suite. This hotel is highly recommended.

We stayed at the Hotel Viking for two nights in July. The Hotel is quite attractive and is an excellent location for sightseeing and shopping. You most likely will not need your car during your stay. The management of the hotel is first rate. We found the room to be a little small and the bathroom very cramped but the bed and pillows were quite comfortable. Unfortunately, there were only blinds on the windows, where room darkening curtains were needed. In addition, the muffled noises at night, a whirlwind of different devices grinding, whirling, humming, and buzzing made sleeping less then ideal. Perhaps we were in a bad section of the hotel, but it was unfortunate because we did like everything else about the property. There is an awesome roof bar as well.

My husband and I took my mother to Newport to tour the cottages for her birthday. We booked two rooms at Hotel Viking for three nights and enjoyed staying at this lovely hotel. As a matter of fact, we liked it so much, my husband and I went back for a "couples" three day weekend several weeks afterwards. We're hoping to get back this year.

We are appreciative that you mentioned how lovely the hotel is – and we agree! We are a small unique boutique hotel and have done our best to make maximum use of the space. Our smallest room is approximately 200 square feet. Not a lot of space but tastefully put together. Yet you feel it is not quite like being in your own comfortable home and surroundings.
