Before I begin, kudos go out to our guide, Michael. He knows that countryside like the back of his hand. He was so friendly, accessible and informative. His insights helped us to appreciate the views even more. More kudos to our stellar bartender, Tracy! (Your prickly pear margaritas rock, girlfriend!) If you can afford to so do, traveling first class is the way to go. There were probably 20-30 or so people in our rail car. A champagne toast started our adventure. A snack bar with chicken wings, sandwiches, salads and desserts were provided. Please don't get the impression that this train ride was all about eating and drinking, though much of both were certainly going on. During the ride and whenever we wanted fresh air, we had the option of going to an outdoor railcar. This is where we, and many other folks, spent most of the time (cameras in hand). The views were breathtaking. Make sure your digital cams are powered up as you will definitely be taking videos and stills of so many magnificent views.
