I have stayed her more that 10 times. The staff has always been kind and professional especially Rob at check in and Anayko at the concierge. I have 2 small boys they love the place my wife suffers from brain cancer and they have been very accomadating to her. i love the place so much that I am ready to go again this summer and have already made my reservations.

It is at a great location on Waikiki the rooms are clean and quiet and there is no bad view.

If you are planning a trip to Honolulu, I highly recommend this hotel. It was a great pre-cruise stay and the location can't be beat. Also known as The Pink Palace, The Royal was among the the first few hotels built along Waikiki Beach.

Check in was breeze after being turned away from an existing reservation at a near by hotel. It worked to our favour. We were upgraded to an ocean view with balcony on the 5th floor. The views are amazing but still private. The room was a great size for 2 adults. We ate at the restaurant by the pool for dinner and a couple of lunches. The food is very good but it is expensive. Right next door at the Outrigger is the Hula Grill and Dukes. I strongly suggest going to both of these restaurants. Hula Grill was a reasonably priced breakfast spot and Dukes had delicious seafood and steaks. Hardly had to wait at either place. The Royal Hawaiian is within walking distance of everything you need. ABC stores, shopping (H&M, Forever 21, Macy's, etc), food court, beaches and additional restaurants (Margaritaville, Cheesecake Factory).

The pool area isn't very large but you have beach access just steps away. We didn't have an issue getting towels or chairs in the morning by the pool. We found that at certain times of the day, it did get loud in the pool with all of the children. You had to pay for chairs and umbrellas on the beach so we just parked it at the pool and walked. The prices ranged from $45-$55 for the day. There are also Cabana's by the pool for $100/day - extreme! Surfing lessons are offered on site and the beach is kept clean. You can walk out for miles in the ocean which was nice. There is a great sunset spot off to the right of the hotel on the beach.

The hotel does offer tours but they can add up. We did do the Pearl Harbor tour with them but took a cab to Diamond Head and hiked it on our own time. The sunrise was amazing from there.

Overall the stay at The Royal Hawaiian was luxurious!!

Room Tip: Worth the upgrade to an ocean view with balcony!

This has got to be 'the' hotel to choose in Honolulu. The pink palace is iconic and truly enhances your Hawaiian experience. We were there as day guests as we were visiting as part of a world cruise. The location is second to none, the service is excellent and the food was terrific. This is Waikiki beach at its best

This hotel faces the ocean and is along the most fashionable avenue of Honolulu. The lobby is huge and elegant. The gardens are awesome and very colorful. The rooms are very comfortable and makes one feel he belongs to the old world elegance. It shared a nice pool with Sheraton Waikiki, which seems to be also a nice hotel.

This is one of our favouite hotels in the world, let alone the best of Waikiki. If you can get a decent rate and are staying at Waikiki, don't think about it - just stay here. We stayed here in 2009 and again in Feb 2014 and had a fabulous time. Rooms are terrific, have gotten upgraded both times to suites or junior suites. The history, helpful staff, location, old-world feel, food, etc are all first-class. Beach chairs/chaises for the day are worth the expense - you have the best real estate on Waikiki. A complimentary photo shoot is super-fun too! You will just feel great staying here - its worthy of its Luxury Collection designation.

We stayed in the pink palace and were impressed from the moment we arrived.

We were greeted with lais and a much needed drink and then found banana bread and a beautiful bunch of flowers in our room.

The breakfast was consistently delicious and the service good.

The tower room we were in had a breathtaking view of Waikiki Beach and it was great to be able to sit on our balcony (lanai) and watch all the activities on ocean.

Will definitely be back.

If you are wanting luxurious but not overpriced (for the facilities) accommodation right on Waikiki Beach then you should stay at the Royal Hawaiian Hotel.

We stayed there in the 2nd Quarter of 2012, in a garden/courtyard room.

The room service was excellent, as was the closeness of shopping, dining and recreational facilities.

It is only a leisurely 30 minute straight walk to the Ala Moan Shopping Center or 10 minutes walk to Kuhio Avenue to catch the Bus ($2.50 per adult currently) to the Ala Moana Shopping Centre.

The beautiful pink tones/ colours of both the outside and inside of the Royal Hawaiian Hotel promote peace, relaxation and serenity.

We recommend booking an 'Inner Grove' room when staying at the Royal Hawaiian Hotel as these rooms are quieter (no noise from adjoining hotels) and have a very beautiful outlook onto the spiritual and lush garden grounds below.

Also, depending upon the time of year you vacation and how long you are prepared to book in advance, the Royal Hawaiian Hotel will give you up to 30% off the 'rack' rate which is the standard daily room charge (excluding tax).

Thank you very much to the Royal Hawaiian Hotel and we are looking forward to staying with you again, this time in an 'Inner Grove' room.

Aloha and Happy Holidays from
Janet and Richard Lambert
