“Not a "Little Grass Shack"”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 February 2014

The Hilton Hawaiian Village is immense - over 20 acres of campus including shops, restaurants, tours, art, pools, beach, and lagoon. It is an urban setting so do not confuse it with a Maui, Kauai, or Big Island's beautiful and tranquil beaches - but is does have its draw for those who want a little bit more action, large selection of marvelous restaurants, easy transportation in Waikiki and Honolulu. It is expensive vacationing and if you are staying in town do not rent a car the parking alone will be $30 to $40 per day. Depends on what you want in a vacation and what you are willing to pay for it.

We spent 10 days at the Grand Waikikian and enjoyed every minute. We had a great view, we were able to cook and do laundry. We were close to a mall, walmart, and other stores and restaurants. Great beach, pools, gym, bars, yummy brkfst buffet. In walking distance of Waikiki but in a nicer spot. We even walked/ran to Diamond Head.

We loved the Grand Waikikian at the Hilton Hawaiian Village.

Firstly we are not time share holders but we were asked by concierge if we were interested in sitting in on a presentation. I told him that we already own property elsewhere and we weren't interested. He accepted this and it wasn't mentioned again.

Our 2 bedroom room was wonderful it was very clean and comfortable for 2 adults and 2 teenage girls. We wanted a room this size as teenagers need their own space as we were staying 12 nights. It had a partial ocean view which was very nice indeed. The house keeping was also exceptional except they don't like to leave toilet paper and we had to keep asking for this. They would immediately send up as many rolls as we required. The only down fall would be that their beds need upgrading. I found them to be very uncomfortable, not bad enough to say I had a bad night sleep but I like the Hilton sleep serenity beds and having stayed in many Hilton hotels this is what I expect to sleep on. If they upgrade there beds (and they should as they are getting old) this would have been a perfect room. Having a washer and dryer in the room is a BIG BONUS as this is something that I now look for when booking a room.

Our room was right next to the elevators and many people say that they can hear the elevators and ask for a room away from them. Well up until now I have never stayed near the elevators and I have to agree. From now on when I book a hotel room I will DEFIANTLY be asking not to be near the elevators. It really is annoying and I couldn't work out what this noise was that was keeping me awake, it was the elevators and YES they go all night. This is nothing against the Hotel as it would be the same where ever you stay. I guess it only takes one experience to realize this.

The HHV it self is FABULOUS very glad we stayed there but it could have been closer to the center of Waikiki. It is only about a 10 minute walk to Ala Moana which is good but like a 30 minute walk to Waikiki. It really is to far to just pop down to Waikiki for tea so plan to be there in the afternoon and hang around for tea. Recommend the Cheesecake factory before 6pm. We went there at about 5:30pm and had to wait till 6pm to be seated but we expected this and planed it that way. You can have up to a 2 hr wait at times. The restaurants in the village are great as well, we ate at the New York Deli 3 times including breakfast, Roundtable pizza, the Italian restaurant and the Japanese Steakhouse. All was wonderful. You don't have to leave the village it is a holiday destination in itself.

As a well rounded traveler I would defiantly recommend the Grand Waikikian at the Hilton Hawaiian Village my family and I loved it. I really don't understand negative reports and think that some people are just to hard to please.

Room Tip: Ask to have a room away from the elevators

It was the first time of stay is the owner. Overseas for the first time without using a travel agency, to go in person. It was full of anxiety, but I was able to hotel employees greeted me politely, to stay comfortable. In addition, I am very happy where you would like to visit is made.

I love grand wakikian in wakiki, although I live in Kailua, which about 20 minutes away, I love to spend time in this hotel few time a year. My children specially enjoy the penguin and the flamingo in the hotel, whenever we take a walk in the hotel during. however service is really poor if you are not Japanese. don't understand that. Front staff would approach you with Japanese, this is USA, pls respect and speak English. It made me feel disgrace.

We booked this via another club membership. Flights got cancelled and we arrived 2 days later - that there is no refund is acceptable but there was no effort whatsoever to make up for it. We tried to upgrade from a non sea view room but got a "not possible". We booked telling we have a 1 year old and requested a travel bed. After check in there was no baby bed and took 3 phone calls to get one. The welcome gift, however, is the biggest joke: a card which provides for some discounts at Hilton facilities and restaurants. Rooms are functional but run down. The overall impression is that this is a very commercial place offering anonymity.

Thank you for staying with us and for taking time to give us your input regarding your most recent stay. We were delighted to have you as a guest at our resort and would very much like to improve upon the services you experienced while at our resort. I sincerely apologize that the baby bed (pac n play) wasn’t delivered to your room in a timely manner. I will forward your concern to the appropriate department heads to review with their teams. For the upgrade request, unfortunately since we are always running 100% occupancy throughout the year, it is difficult and rare for us to be able to accommodate those kinds of requests. Our guests and owners will be checked into the room category that they booked for. On behalf of the entire resort team, I would like to thank you once again for sharing your input with us and look forward to the next opportunity of having you as a guest at our resort.

Don't book here if you are not a vacation club member. We got the "only available room" turns out to be accessible--a hard task to deal with with two 5 year olds in tow--no tub and shower with no water protection--wheel in wheel out. Partial ocean view only if on lanai and leaning. TERRIBLE! Booked on Hilton's site. Expensive for what you get--book elsewhere--Sheraton looks better--water slides, pool and more central--closer to the main beach.

Thank you for staying with us and for taking time to give us your input regarding your most recent stay. We try to accommodate our guests as much as possible. However, due to times when we are fully occupied we have to utilize every room possible as the only alternative would be to walk the guest. We are always running full occupancy, so we have to assign accessible units as well. This even applies to our Vacation Club Members. We apologize that the room that you were assigned did not meet your expectations. We do appreciate your comments. On behalf of the entire resort team, I would like to thank you once again for sharing your input with us and look forward to the next opportunity of having you as a guest at our resort.
