“A true gem for our invaluable Military!”
Reviewed 28 May 2014

If you have a Military connection, the Hale Koa Military Resort is definitely the place to stay in Waikiki. It is situated on 72 lush acres, right on Waikiki Beach. The grounds are immaculate, as is the hotel itself.

The lobby and reception area are open-air and really give the true feeling of being in Hawaii. There are many restaurants and bars to choose from and most have outdoor seating. We never had a bad meal or bad service. The luau was well worth attending, too. Great food and entertainment!

Our room was very nice and exceptionally clean. We opted for a room "without a view" and that worked well as we spent very little time there. Way too much to do and see to linger in your room!!

There are many nice shops on the premises and a couple of times a week vendors set up shop in the lobby and sell beautiful Hawaiian made jewelry and other items. A tip: if you pay cash instead of using your credit card the vendors give a much better deal. There is also a BX on site.

There were lots of young families enjoying the wonderful amenities, as well as retired folks like us.

This hotel is like an island of beauty on an island of beauty. The grounds are large, well decorated, shady walking areas on the way to the beach. Two beachside snack bars are always busy, the luau at the hotel was excellent. No problems checking in our out, the food was great in the hotel, both swimming pools spotless.

The rental car office in the hotel is only open till 1 pm and this caused me some schedule problems. I suggest you reserve rental cars at the airport before you get there.

Room Tip: We found the partial ocean view rooms a great value, we could still sit outside and see the ocean, b...

A great place to stay on Waikiki Beach. Excellent room service staff and the café was great as well. The only negative was check-in. Several people waiting in line and all positions to help weren't manned but past this everyone was very helpful in all areas of our stay at the hotel, bars, café, and room service.

Don't even know where to start when writing about this wonderful hotel. First wonderful vacation at this hotel was in 1996 and most recent visit was for nine days commencing on May 13, 2014 and both times were spectacular. Though there was nothing fancy about our room is was still perfect and clean and comfortable with a large flat screen tv , a mini frig, safe, blow dryer and coffee maker. Our view was spectacular from a corner room on the 9th floor. One of my most favorite things at the hotel was the fact that vendors come and setup in the outdoor lobby every Monday, Wednesday and Friday but, if you see something you like you better get it as there are different vendors each time. Went to both restaurants, the Luau, both pools, both bars and the beach and all were terrific. Try the Koala Bear drink at Bibas Restaurant. Also, Free WIFI is available.

Room Tip: I would say that a partial ocean view are great because looking out over Waikiki and Honolulu are a...

I stayed here last year with my family and cousins and we had a good time! The hotel was very close to wherever we wanted to go and kids had a blast at the pool including me! Rooms were neat and tidy and we got the hotel at a good deal! Staff was nice and we enjoyed a lot! Will come back here sometime soon! Just loved it and Hawaii as well!

If you are lucky enough to have been associated with our military, or sponsored by someone who has been, this is an affordable Waikiki Beach location. The rooms are basic, but who cares when you're hanging out at the beach? The grounds are wonderful!
