Owner description: The resting place for more than 25,000 victims of three American Wars - World War II, Korean War and Vietnam War – this is truly the “Cemetery of Heroes.” Punchbowl was formed some 75,000 to 100,000 years ago during the Honolulu period of secondary volcanic activity. A crater resulted from the ejection of hot lava through cracks in the old coral reefs that, at the time, extended to the foot of the Koolau Mountain Range. Of special note is a monument honoring Hawaii-born astronaut Ellison Onizuka, who perished aboard the Challenger space shuttle in 1986. Also noteworthy are the Courts of the Missing, white stone tablets bearing the names of those missing in action from World War II.

This is the Arlington National Cemetery of the Pacific. Honored burial for Service Members. No need to spend hours here, just experience the location, share your respect to those interned here. You may even find a grave of a WWII person that you have heard of.

We toured this cemetery along with our tour of Pearl Harbor. The tour guide was so knowledgeable about the history and who was buried here. The trees were absolutely beautiful. Add this site to your places to visit.

This formed part of an all-day tour we undertook and our guide gave us clear insight into the history of this location and its on-going importance to Hawaii. It is beautifully maintained.

A very moving service we attended with the US Marines & Fellow Australian Defence Force Members. In memory of those fellow
Servicemen/Women who served in the Pacific.

My husband and I stopped here on our way back to Waikiki from Pearl Harbor. We were shocked by how empty it was, though it was fitting that it should be so peaceful. This "Arlington of the Pacific" is such a beautiful place to honor our veterans. There is currently some construction on the memorial walls, but only on one side, so you can still see the beauty of the place. Don't just drive through as most people do, park your car near the entrance and walk the path under the Banyan trees to really take in the gravity of this memorial.
