“Excellent dinner, poor service for a 5 star venue.”
Reviewed 21 April 2013

This would have been the perfect romantic dinner, had our server matched the rest of the evening. Soup and salad arrived promptly but then things went downhill. After ordering a bottle of wine we were invited step outside to enjoy the view and take pictures. We returned to our table about ten minutes later to find the lobster course sitting there. After that, most of the others in our area had finished the following courses before ours were served. We ordered additional drinks, but after ten minutes had to go to the bar and ask for them again. The bartender started making them and said that our server would bring them to our table. Several minutes later he brought them himself. The next time we saw our server was he presented the check for the bottle of wine and asked if we could take care of it as soon as possible as we would be docking within 30 minutes. The cruise director, who had been very friendly and took several pictures for us, came by and asked how things had been. We told him about the service and he said "sorry about that" and stepped away. The concept of this seven course sunset dinner cruise along the coast of Waikiki was just what we had hoped for. But at over $400 for the two of us, we certainly expected much better service.
Would recommend this cruise as the food and setting were outstanding. Just hope that you would get the service you deserve and paid for.
We were served two drinks by a different waiter just prior to docking and said they were complimentary for our trouble, but we still had coupons for drinks that were included in the package price. A nice gesture, but really meaningless.

“Fantastic experience!”

I was all prepared to be disappointed. I couldn't have been more wrong. We really enjoyed this dinner cruise-the food was delicious, the service beyond reproach, and the entertainment was absolutely fantastic! I highly recommend this dinner cruise.

“An Enjoyable Evening with Spectacular View”
Reviewed 18 February 2013

We booked the 5-star dinner cruise for Valentine's Day during our weeklong stay on Waikiki and it exceeded my expectations -- I was prepared for it to be overly touristy and cheesy, but this is a well-run operation and worth the experience for the view alone.

The fare was above average and on par with some of the better restaurants in the area. I appreciated that the relatively young staff, I'm guessing first-time jobs for many, are obviously put through a rigorous training -- they are very proficient, professional, and smartly attired. The entire package is put together well and is obviously well managed.

My only disappointment was that in spite of our having been reminded of the strict dress code when we made our required phone call to confirm, two large center tables were filled with unruly teenagers in tee shirts and sneakers. This detracted from the experience, and I would encourage the ticket desk to be more assertive. When I grew up, fine restaurants made diners borrow a sportcoat from a rack if they showed up underdressed.

The hula dancers who greet you while you wait to board the ship were quite fine. It's a shame that they are dancing on pavement in front of a Hooter's restaurant, and unrolling a length of green indoor/outdoor carpet and setting up a few tiki torches would go a long way to giving them the backdrop they deserve.

The acoustic guitarist and pianist who performed during dinner were very good, and the jass vocalist was enjoyable. Note that for the 5-star dinner, the evening's entertainment does not include traditional Hawaiian music, in case that is what you are seeking or expecting.

There may have been discount coupons available; at full fare, I wouldn't say it's a bargain, but with three cocktails, the pre-boarding hula act, and the view included, it's priced fairly.

We had outstanding meals at Azure and Michel's during our stay (both were superb, and the view from Michel's at Diamond Head is amazing, check it out!), and I selected this dinner cruise in lieu of a luau or other on-shore dinner entertainment for one of our other nights. I'm glad for having made this choice as it was a fun alternative.

“Blown Away!”

The service and the views were beyond spectacular! Seeing the sunset on the Hawaiian waters and the backdrop of Waikiki and Diamond Head are breathtaking. Ask for George Young. He made our dinner five star with his comedic yet professional service.
