“2 week stay room 1430”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 December 2013

We stayed at the Ilikai for 2 weeks with their snooze and cruise package. Everything we booked through the hotel (rental car, room and parking) went off without a hitch. Our flight did not leave until 10:30pm and they even allowed us a later checkout of 6pm which was great. The ladies at the bar were all very lovely and friendly. They had several TV's so you could watch your favorite games while having a drink or meal. The drinks were reasonably priced and the food was basic, but good. Everybody was very polite and accommodating. One of the things I really liked about this hotel was the location. While not right on the beach, it was on the beach side of the main road going through Waikiki, so you did not have to cross any streets to get to the lagoon and beach which were only a couple of minutes from the back of the hotel. My wife and I took several trips to the main part of Waikiki where all the high end shops are. We thought we were walking down the strip in vegas on a saturday night, it was that crowded. This was not the case around the Ilikai hotel. While there were plenty of people, shops, restaurants and bars around, there was nowhere near the foot traffic. We never felt crowded at this end of the beach. I will definitely be staying here again and would recommend it to any looking for a moderately priced nice hotel. While the the outside was a little weathered, the inside had been remodeled and the room size compared to a normal hotel was twice the size.

We stayed here in November for 5 days. I was very pleased with the suite. It is a 2 bedroom 2 bath, with living area, kitchen, The bedrooms have sliding doors that separate them from the living area, which was fine. The kitchen is older and we barely used it but for breakfast, coffee, snacks and drinks. It is older but fine, Everything was as we expected, they also supplied beach towels and the kitchen was fully stocked with utensils pots glasses and all u would need. I wouldnt really say there is an oceanview but you can see a peak of it and the marina if you crane your neck on one balcony. we prefered the city view balcony it was pretty at night with lights and at day you could see the mountains. the best thing was the location ...so local and walking distance to everything, there is a small store downstairs that had most things u might want and abc store directly across the street. we had a great thanksgiving dinner at 'snappers' also across the road for only $15 and it was delicious and tons of food. they also have a cheap egg breakfast for $4-5 on weekdays. walk to beach was a few minutes. the owner also graciously gave us a free late checkout when our flight did not leave till 11pm at night. bed was super comfy too. would stay here again for sure.

Overall, we were very happy with the Ilikai.

The bar on the ground floor is reasonably priced, has good service, and basic but good food.
The top floor restaurant is pricy, but has a very good happy hour, and outstanding views at sunset.

Ilikai parking is expensive, but there are good nearby options, including free parking at the lagoon between 5am-10:30pm; and good rates at an outside lot across from the free lagoon parking.

Room Tip: City/mountain view 9s less expensive and nice, but the ocean view is worth the extra.

We found all the staff to be very friendly and helpful, from the valets to the bell hop to the front desk and the wait staff. Great location if you want to be near Waikiki beach, but not in the section of town near the designer shops where the sidewalks are much more crowded. We did not really hear any noise from other guests. Our air conditioner in our room was a little loud sometimes but other than that an excellent room with full kitchen, comfortable bed. Only a shower, no tub in the bathroom. Not a problem for us but if you had little kids it could be inconvenient for you.

We stayed here using our timeshare. This is a combo, timeshare, hotel and condo setup. The location is on the west side of Waikiki beach so you need to walk to Waikiki proper but you are on the beach regardless. There is shopping and food close by. Fast food or sit down is right there. Our studio was nice and worked very well for us. The staff at our timeshare was very pleasant and the place was clean and comfortable.

Ilikai was an okay place to stay. Would I stay there again - probably not. Our room which was an ocean view 2 bedroom suite was a little tired - lots of marks on walls and threadbare couch that has seen better days. I expected a little better when paying $400/night. I did get the room on a hotel special so maybe I got the worst of the rooms (even though I booked direct with the hotel). The beds were very comfortable. The kitchen and bathrooms were very clean. Daily housekeeping was good. The hotel is a good 30 min walk from the centre of Waikiki, but is very handy to the Ala Moana shops - 5 min walk. The beach out front is hard on the feet - very rocky once in the water. But I'm told further along is much better for swimming.
