“One of my all-time favorite, classic Honolulu resorts..great for Families”
Reviewed 26 March 2014

I have stayed at virtually every major resort in the Islands and although Ilikai is an older property (originally built in 1964), it has a retro vibe that I really appreciate. Many of the new resorts have a plastic feel to them, but lots of character here. For lots of nice wood accents throughout the property. The rooms are HUGE with full kitchens. Great for families that want to relax by the beach all day and save a few bucks by cooking in the hotel room. Ilikai is also conveniently located within a short walk of downtown Waikiki and Ala Moana Shopping Center.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the marina offer beautiful views and cool breezes.

My wife and I stayed here for a week. The room was large with a useful desk and enough outlets for all our gear, king-size very comfortable bed, large shower with plenty of room for my wife's cosmetics, friendly staff, located on the west end of Waikiki away from the huge crowds further east, yet close to the convention center and Waikiki shopping and beaches. The hotel is gradually converting to condos, but there was no construction noise of inconvenience. Rooms, hallways, and common areas were clean and well maintained.

Great location and great bar that serves wonderful food and drinks for a reasonable price! The hotel rooms are large, clean and pleasant. The beach is easily accessible and bus routes to all major attractions are right outside the hotel.

While the Ilikai may have lost some of its luster since the Yacht Club Tower was sold off, it still has a great location, clean comfortable rooms, great comfortable beds and a friendly staff. I was at the hotel for six nights and while the room is a little dated it was clean and comfortable (and other than sleeping how much time do you spend in your room when you are in Hawaii?). The hotel is located close to great restaurants, shopping, and transportation. Great value.

We stayed at the Ilikai Hotel at the west end of Waikiki prior to moving to our timeshare on Oahu. The Ilikai is celebrating 50 years of service this year and was featured in the original Hawaii Five O series. The hotel is definitely not showing its age. We were warmly greeted in a very clean and modern registration area and our room was also clean and spacious. The Ilikai is situated at the west end of the Waikiki beach walk and we took advantage of this to walk to shopping and eating areas. The only drawback to the Ilikai was that, like every hotel we read up on in Honolulu, street noise can be heard even on our 22nd floor. Fortunately it was not an issue from around 10:00pm until 5:30am the next morning. We will definitly consider staying here again.

Stayed here for nine nights. Our room was overlooking the marina which was excellent. The rooms are very spacious, clean and comfortable. The room was supplied with a fridge, microwave and coffee maker - but no cutlery or dishware to use other than a couple of mugs for your coffee, which seemed a bit strange when you are provided with a microwave??!!
The hotel itself was very nice and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The only downside was the pool area and the bar! The pool (which is a salt water pool) was a bit dated, and there was no bar service between the pool and bar. We were told its because the bar area is rented out and the hotel will not allow them to provide bar service in the pool area, which meant everytime we wanted a drink it was a trek for both of us to the bar if we both fancied a beer (due to the drinking laws in Hawaii where they will only serve one beer per person). Think the hotel is missing a trick with this one!! Anyway it was a lovely stay - the location was spot on too with a 10 minute walk into the middle of Waikiki. Bus stop right outside the hotel as well. I think to stay at this hotel is budget dependent to be honest. I found it perfectly ok for what we wanted, however if I was going back to Oahu would probably look for somewhere else.

Room Tip: Get one with a view of the marina/beach - it was fantastic to walk into a room and see that view

My wife and I stayed 3 nights at the Ilikai and had an enjoyable stay. We had booked a room that was supposed to overlook the lagoon but got one overlooking the marina but as it was late we just decided to stay with that room. The room itself was very clean and big with a king size comfortable bed. There was a small fridge, microwave, coffee maker and safe. The bathroom had 2 separate sinks in the bathroom with lots of room for your stuff and the shower was quite large. There was also a table with chairs in the room as well as on the small balcony which was nice to have. The room was very quiet and we heard no noise from the rooms around us. Staff were friendly and we got a booklet with 20% discounts at certain restaurants around and in the hotel. The location was close to the Ala Moana shopping center and easy walking for us to the rest of Waikiki. The only thing missing was information in our room as to hotel facilities and we were not given any info when we checked in but this was a small point for us. We would stay here again.
