My wife and I stayed at The Ilikai Hotel & Suites in a 1 bed condo suite on the 28th floor during May.
We found the whole complex to be clean, fresh, and well presented. Our suite well well appointed with ensuite shower room, a kitchenette with breakfast bar & full fridge/freezer, living area and double bed. We opted for a room that overlooked the lagoon, and thus had a perfect view of both the Friday night fireworks and the rooftop luau on the adjacent hotel. Laundry facilities are available on each floor near the main lifts.
Rooms that overlook the marina would have a nice view out to sea too, but rooms facing the roadway might be somewhat noisier with the traffic etc. Our room was nice and quiet at night.
The complex has a small Bar/Grill which serves good food, and lovely cocktails.
There is a pool and sun lounger area that is private for residents & guests, and which has Ilikai wifi available. Separate wifi was provided in our room. This was an issue for us as it saved on UK roaming charges when contacting home. One slight negative observation regarding the pool area is the limited number of parasols (3 or 4 only) that are over tables & chairs.
It is a 10 to 15 minute stroll from the Ilikai to the main Waikiki nightlife area, but the beach is only a couple of minutes away. The large Ala Moana shopping mall is a 10 minute stroll in the opposite direction & there are several very good dining establishments nearby. We liked this as it meant we were just out of the hustle & bustle of the main tourist/nightlife area, but within easy walking distance of everything we needed or wanted.
Parking in the area is at a premium, but the nearby Waikiki Marina Resort at The Ilikai parking garage do a 24hr for $20 rate. Otherwise on street parking is around $1 per hour and is time restricted. there are plenty of shuttle busses that pass the door, so unless you are touring the island, a car is not really necessary. If you do want a car for a few days, consider pricing one for individual days rather that block booking. It might work out less expensive.
All things considered, the Ilikai is an excellent holiday resort well worth considering.
