If you are looking for a fancy upgraded hotel, then look elsewhere. This is a nice, but a bit dated hotel in a great location.
Pros:
Several restaurants onsite
Close to Hilton Village that is almost like a small town with restaurants and shopping
Remodeled rooms
Close to ocean. Five minute walk
Walking distance to a lot of restaurants
Cons:
Hotel is dated
Expensive parking. Just take the bus
Expensive food. Walk to walmart and you'll save a fortune on food.

Love the location. Warm and friendly hotel and have recommended to others to stay. Currently being updated but it did not interfere with our holiday. Staff very friendly. Great size room. Close to shops, restaurants, activity pickups at front door. Great place

Going to Hawaii had been my dream vacation since I was a little girl. When I retired, I decided I ,would make this dream come true! It was an 'all girls' trip for me, my mom and sisters--what an awesome vacation and one we will never forget. We booked through Priceline, so it was a roll of the dice but it did not disappoint! The Ilikai's location is great--there buses and trolleys stop right outside the hotel! For $2 or so, you can take the bus to Waikiki Beach, the Waikiki aquarium, Sea Life Park and the shopping centers are everywhere. There's nightly luaus right downstairs, at the restaurant (where the food is great, by the way). Their breakfast buffets are the best, you'll think you died and went to heaven! The grounds are well kept and beautiful, very exotic feel. The rooms are nicely decorated and very clean...and the views from the balcony are picturesque! Love the Ilikai and would love to go back!

Room Tip: High floor and balcony

My wife and I stayed at The Ilikai Hotel & Suites in a 1 bed condo suite on the 28th floor during May.

We found the whole complex to be clean, fresh, and well presented. Our suite well well appointed with ensuite shower room, a kitchenette with breakfast bar & full fridge/freezer, living area and double bed. We opted for a room that overlooked the lagoon, and thus had a perfect view of both the Friday night fireworks and the rooftop luau on the adjacent hotel. Laundry facilities are available on each floor near the main lifts.

Rooms that overlook the marina would have a nice view out to sea too, but rooms facing the roadway might be somewhat noisier with the traffic etc. Our room was nice and quiet at night.

The complex has a small Bar/Grill which serves good food, and lovely cocktails.

There is a pool and sun lounger area that is private for residents & guests, and which has Ilikai wifi available. Separate wifi was provided in our room. This was an issue for us as it saved on UK roaming charges when contacting home. One slight negative observation regarding the pool area is the limited number of parasols (3 or 4 only) that are over tables & chairs.

It is a 10 to 15 minute stroll from the Ilikai to the main Waikiki nightlife area, but the beach is only a couple of minutes away. The large Ala Moana shopping mall is a 10 minute stroll in the opposite direction & there are several very good dining establishments nearby. We liked this as it meant we were just out of the hustle & bustle of the main tourist/nightlife area, but within easy walking distance of everything we needed or wanted.

Parking in the area is at a premium, but the nearby Waikiki Marina Resort at The Ilikai parking garage do a 24hr for $20 rate. Otherwise on street parking is around $1 per hour and is time restricted. there are plenty of shuttle busses that pass the door, so unless you are touring the island, a car is not really necessary. If you do want a car for a few days, consider pricing one for individual days rather that block booking. It might work out less expensive.

All things considered, the Ilikai is an excellent holiday resort well worth considering.

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking the lagoon have partial sea view, but a good view of the fireworks on a Friday nig...

We just spent 3 nights at the Ilikai and after spending 4 at a much more luxurious high end hotel down the street we would choose the Ilikai any time we returned to Waikiki. We arrived-805 am from disembarking the cruise ship and even though check in wasn't till 3pm, Chester was able to check us in to our room with a fabulous view on floor 22 by 815!
Great location -so close to Alamoana and the trolley stops right out the front.

Room Tip: Go high for the view-the lift is super quick!

We booked this condo on VRBO, and it was managed by Marina Hawaii Vacations. Service from them was amazing from start to finish, and we would just go direct through them next time.

Apartment was perfect size and location for myself and my wife. We were looking for something just slightly away from the main strip of Waikiki but in walking distance, so this was perfect.

The pool is great, although a little small, but that seems to be the case with lots of pool hotels in Waikiki.

Our room faced the lagoon in front of the Hilton, and we had a beautiful view of the ocean.

The entire place was nice and relaxing, and it was not crowded at all, like lots of the other hotels in Waikiki. No waiting for elevators or in a line for valet.

Really recommend this property, and the apartment specifically that we stayed in. Excellent value for money, especially when you are out and about most of the day/night and not really using the hotel facilities.

Room Tip: Check VRBO and other rental sites, and also try contacting managing agents directly for best rates

We stayed in apartment 518 & our friends were in the apartment next door. Check in was seamless as it had all been done online thru Waikiki Beach Rentals. Apartments were clean and well maintained. We were surprised to find no wine glasses in our apartment and it was a nuisance to have to buy a set . Location is brilliant. Easy walking distance to Ala Moana shopping mall. Bus to Costco, Pearl harbour etc outside the front. Good little supermarket 2 minutes walk. Coffee shop downstairs had a limited menu but there were plenty of other places to eat close by. Would definitely recommend if you want a bit of space, ability to cook for yourself and don't need daily cleaning or all the bells and whistles of a hotel.

Room Tip: Apartment 518 has a great view to the water.
