“Great find”
Reviewed 27 February 2014

Came upon this restaurants whilst driving around and it was a great find. The food was delicious and was so fresh!

The service was great! The restaurant is not fancy and is very unassuming but the food was incredible.

“Mama in the Kitchen makes sure It's to die for!”
Reviewed 23 December 2013

We totally found this restaurant on a whim. Turned out to be a great whim. We had been to Foodland in Waikiki and the Thai restaurant may have been good but with such a location and no customers we decided to go on a hunt. Anyways we found this place. A family moved from Thailand with two daughters and a mom. Mom is the cook with the help of one of the daughters and the other daughter is the Hostess and waitress and they hired a fireman who is a devotee of Thai and he was our server. This place is totally awesome and the bathroom is ok too. My first impression wasn't so hot as the hostess was on the cell when we walked in and she greeted and seated us without missing a beat on her cell phone which never left her ear. She was discussing supplies etc. No training or has no clue, whatever. Who cares, our waiter took care of us, big time.
We started with the fried calamari appetizer $10 which was just fantastic and tender, yum. Then we had the Yellow Curry which was so nice, you really felt like you were in Bangkok. And finally we had the proverbial Pad Thai, I think the best I have had in 5 years. Just go there, you will not be disappointed.

“Delicious curries at reasonable prices”
Reviewed 4 November 2013

This Thai restaurant in Kaimuki was a delightful surprise. They offer a variety of options, at least seven or eight different curries, seafood, rice and noodles, appetizers and desserts. Our family of five ordered the pad thai and three different curries. We shared the dishes family style- with four entrees and some appetizers there were plenty of leftovers. The panang curry was very tasty, You can choose whether to have it with shrimp, chicken, beef or pork. "To Thai for- homestyle curry" had a somewhat sweet sour taste with lots of ong choy. The third curry we tried was the yellow curry- lots of potatoes and carrots-- all three with distinctive different tastes; all three delicious!! The prices were reasonable-- about $12-15 and ample portions to share. Brown rice, white rice, sticky rice are ala carte- but ample portions at $2.00 apiece. Next time I'll leave room for dessert!! In addition to the mango and sweet sticky rice, they had other interesting options. This neighborhood eatery is a repeat for us!!

“A "Locals" Place Away From The Tourists”
Reviewed 3 November 2013

Visiting Honolulu and tired of the tourist crowds? To Thai For is a good choice. Low key, attentive service, full bar and a good menu. We particularly enjoyed the "To Thai For Happy Platter". Highly recommended.
