We stayed in Unit 2403, which was on the canal side, for a week mid-April, 2013. This was our first time staying in Honolulu so when we booked, we were not sure if we would be renting a car. We rented thru a vacation rental company and saw it offered free parking and wifi, the daily rate seemed good ($90/nite) and the pictures and description seemed like it was a good option. Upon arrival, we were very disappointed. I believe the building is from 1979 and our unit looks like nothing had been changed since then, except for maybe the bedding. The hair dryer only worked on one setting for the first day. After that, you needed to turn it on and off, again on one setting only, by pulling the plug. I did call them, mostly to inform them so I would not be charged for damage, and they did offer to replace it but I felt I could deal with it the way it was for the remainder of the week. Also, first day there we found 4 different remotes by the TV with no instructions. Finally had to call maintenance to figure out how to turn the TV on. We used the air conditioner the first nite but it was noisy and really didn't block out the noise from the street like we thought it would. Room was very boring, everything was either white or off white, curtains were very worn and torn, rug was coming apart at the seems and had some large stains, towel ring came off the wall and I repaired it, only one towel bar in bathroom (I suggested they put a 2nd one over the toilet), nothing to prevent slippling in the tub (I suggested a grab bar, especially for seniors). Little things like a refridgerator handle that wobbled and needed to be tightened, missing caps on the top of a chair, missing laminate on the bottom of a bathroom door, etc. showed this place was not well maintained. Overall, it seemed whoever owned this unit put the bare minimum in there and are just intent on raking in as much money for as long as they can without doing any reno. Don't imagine they have much repeat business. What we originally thought was a good deal for the money, wound up costing $999 for 7 nites which included the $120 exit cleaning fee which was a real joke. Unit barely looked clean when we arrived and some things looked like they had never been cleaned. Next time, I will go for a more expensive hotel room that offers much better amenities. You don't really need parking because the buses that are very close by take you just about anywhere you want to go. Also, we opted to use Go808Express.com to pick us up and return us to the airport for $25 each way for two people rather than the suggested Reliable Shuttle Co. which I heard should be renamed the "Unreliable Shuttle Co." We also found that we really didn't need to use the kitchen. You can get away with a unit that just has a mini-fridge and microwave as there are reasonable places to eat nearby, IHOP for one. Besides...you are on vacation!! Other units in this building may not be as bad and it is in a great location so if these little things don't bother you than this is the unit for you. We will not be repeat customers!!!

Our family stayed for a week. Our 1 bedroom unit faced town and the ocean. It was extremely noisy all night long..lots of sirens...so make sure you take ear plugs. There was a small, noisey ac in the bedroom, but you have to keep patio door open during the night because the rest of the unit becomes so stuffy. The sleeper sofa was very uncomfortable. Unit was very dated, carpet old and dirty, plus we found 2 adult and 2 small roaches on kitchen counter. Had some ants around sink area. Just make sure you empty garbage daily. Rooms on 10th floor and below have no view except cement wall. Sauna did not work and rest room in exercise area was very old. There is a large laundry room, but make sure you have quarters! They actually charge you to use the change machine. Elevators were slow and there was always at least one that was out of order. The lobby is old and the end tables and lamps were very dirty. The one bright spot in an otherwise big, empty, kinda creepy lobby, is the security guard. Not sure what their job is supposed to be, because they just sit there and won't help with anything, but one of them was really sweet and good for some smiles and laughter. You are charged $5 each time you wish to use the lobby computer, and the room phone. There is no visitors center or anything close by, so you have to figure out things completely on your own, which was hard because we had never been there and had not a clue how to begin navigating the island. You can buy a 4 day bus pass for 20 dollars at any ABC store. It's a great buy! Overall, it was the family experience that really was important and we spent very little time in our unit anyway, so it is what it is and that is OK.

Room Tip: Ocean side rooms have beautiful views but are very noisy with street noise. Mountain side has some...

We recently stayed at Royal Kuhio with our 2 teenage children in a 2 bedroom 2 bathroom unit over looking Waikiki Beach. The unit was clean and spacious and included a full kitchen, and the proximity to the beach and shopping centres was excellent. We were pleasantly surprised and would stay here again.

we rented this condo with 2 bedrooms 2 baths to arrive to find there had been water pipe brakes in upper unit 2 days before our arrival. The moldy ceiling and walls etc were still all over in the bathroom,we're told next day which was friday that someone would be coming the next wed,we told them that didn't work and could they at least clean all the mold up and get the toliet in use for us,3 senior ladies and we would get by with the one shower for a few days, they then gave us a key to another condo which was beautiful just to use the toilet and when I went to go use it there was a man going in there,so I called them back and told them they needed to fix the toliet in our unit,so on sat they came and cleaned the bathroom and we had it for 2 days then the plumer came on tues now and spent the whole day putting in new pipes and when they went to try the lines upstairs it flooded again so they realized it was from a bathroom higher up so the plumer cleaned and said we could use the bathroom now, when i went in the bathroom he had cleaned the water up but the whole rest of the bathroom was filthy so I then cleaned the whole bathroom so we could use it,just to get another call the next day saying that they were coming in to replace the ceiling and paint so no bathroom again. In all we had not much use of 2nd bathroom for 10 days.
We had a awesome view but had to go out on the deck to enjoy it as the windows were so dirty you couldn't see out them. The towels in the unit were so dirty we went and bought bleach and washed the few that were there for us and bought our own to use.The carpet had more stains on it than you would ever believe.
Horrible experience

This resort is not spectacular but it does have a full kitchen so you can make a few meals versus eating out the entire time you are in Oahu.

We did like the proximity to the beach and the market. Overall we would stay again for the cost.

The property is out dated, and there really isn't a view available. However, it is in a great location. Everything is in walking distance - Waikiki beach, International Marketplace, etc. If you want to go North, you'll need a car. The property has a rec center. They do charge to use wi-fi. We didn't spend much time in our room, which only had an A/C unit in the living room. Which is fine, except we had to leave it on all day in order for it to cool the rest of the unit, which is not big. And the a/c was loud.

Like I said though, we didn't stay in our room much, so we turned it on as soon as we checked in and left it on the rest of the visit.

For what you get, it's a great place!

Room Tip: Pick a room high up if you want any kind of view. If you get anything below the 10th floor, expect...

I read all the reviews & wasn't sure I'd like this place but pleasantly happy with the experience. My sister & I shared a one bed room studio. The queen bed in the bed room was comfortable but my sister felt the hide a bed was somewhat uncomfortable. We should have picked up a foam pad at Costco. The bedroom had all the usual including two good bedside reading lights which I appreciated. Full bathroom & full kitchen with plenty of glasses, cups, pots & pans. Coffee maker came with 2 packs of local coffee & could buy more from the office in the lobby. Also salt/pepper/sugar, sweetner & packets of creamer. Also a toaster & blender. Refrig with several filled ice cubes trays A window AC in both rooms altho didn't use them. Street noise settled down after about 10 PM.
Saw no bugs & I looked! In lobby on the bulletin board was a discussion of the board meeting of concern about "uninvited guests" also discussed in the check in packet, so obviously making a real effort.
Staff & 24/7 security guards all very friendly & helpful. Pool deck, laundry & exercise room helpful. I used the pool few times but as the trade winds gusted to 55 MPH for most of our week stay it became too cool to swim. If not for the winds, I would have used it every day. My sister walked 2 blocks to Waikiki Beach & walked in the water but again too cool to stay in even to temps was in the 70's.
Condo was near lot of restaurants, 1/2 block to International Market Place, 1 block to Ross Dept store where I bought most of my gifts ay reasonable prices. Got myself a mo-mo (spelling?) for $2.99. Several ABC stores in the neighborhood for snacks, drinks,, etc

Nice place to stay.
