Our family has frequented this restaurant several times, and each time we swear we will never return. The food is mediocre, and the service is terrible.

Today we went for a late lunch. There were only 4 tables occupied, one waitress, one busboy and 3 people at the cashier's area who seemed to fill in as needed.

We were seated promptly and given menus. Nobody came by to offer water. We waited longer than necessary for the waitress to come to our table, maybe 10 minutes. Only after she asked what we wanted to drink did the busboy bring water and tea. We noticed other tables were seated after us and were automatically served water. We get better service at Zippy's. As the restaurant got busier, we noticed the three people at the cashier's area came out to help serve and take orders.

The cashier gave us someone else's bill (with their credit card) not only once, but on two separate occasions! They are very disorganized. Management needs big improvement. I think the only reason they are still in business is that there are not many restaurant choices in East Oahu.

Highly recommended.
During a recent Dec 2012 convention, Gyotaku was recommended. Great choice. We were a party of 9. Seated promptly. Menu is supersized, something for everyone. The local sushi selection is fresh, probably same day from nearby fish market. Service was continuous & courteous. Tempura was light & crisp. Dips & sauces were full of flavor. High standards & quality. Atmosphere is close quarters but not invasive or noise.
Chef came to our table to insure our experience.
Wonderful evening in paradise.

Good Japanese food, with some very cool Hawaiian twists. Tasty sushi, the Butterfish plate was wonderful, my Ox Tail soba noodle soup was great! Good environment for families, and a kind and helpful staff. I thought it was a tad pricey, but I am not used to these Hawaii prices yet! I would definitely go back.

You have to know it's there as it is located in a strip mall type center with an unassuming front, between two other restaurants, Took my mother there for a light supper. The portions were large enough for us to share a meal. The food was good Japanese food--tempura, sashimi, teriyaki, etc. They also had some unusual dishes I saw others order but I did not feel adventurous that evening. The atmosphere is conducive to families without being too noisy or too casual. The service was very good. Since the place is large, I would suspect that there are times when they are very busy.
