“Underwhelming but adequate.”
Reviewed 27 December 2012

Airport food is always underwhelming with very few exceptions, and Stinger Ray's in the Honolulu airport is not one. Nevertheless, it was an adequate place to stop and have a bite during a long layover. We sat back in the corner, found a power outlet for the laptop and stayed for a couple of hours. It worked out.

Aside from being overpriced, there weren't any real negatives to the meal. It just wasn't very exciting or memorable -- but then again, what do you expect? It was all on par with that of any large American chain restaurant.

The Stinger Ray theme and its accompanying mythos, woven through the menu, just kind of comes off as a bit cheesy and it would be cool if they got rid of that, but whatever.

The final thing that clinches this review's star rating is, again, the prices. Who charges $4.25 for a fountain soda? Really?

“Microwaved food”
Reviewed 3 July 2012

We thought this was a cute "tropical" place to have some lunch while at the airport. We ordered nachos and the chicken was microwaved which tasted like Hormel prepackaged meat that you would buy at the grocery store. It wasn't even heated all the way through and it was just a huge disappointment. I would not return.

“Average and overpriced”
Reviewed 29 April 2012

The food here isn't bad, but it isn't spectacular either. It IS overpriced, but then again, you're in an airport. We stupidly did not figure out that there was a food court before settling on Stinger Ray's. I agree with the other reviewer that said you are better off with a fast food option.

If you do decide to go, the nachos are decent and big enough to share, just ask them to go easy on the bbq sauce unless you like LOTS of it.

“Nothing special”

Ok food but not worth the price. Probably better off with something cheap from the food court.

“Average Airport Restaurant Food - good fish bisque”
Reviewed 28 February 2012

My wife and I ate hear while waiting for a flight. The options were the usual airport fast food outlets. Service was average to slow. We shared a decent burger (certainly better than the fast food places) and a really good fish bisque - which was the highlight of the meal.

They had a decent list of beers, wines, and mixed drinks, an interesting "surfer" decor, and at least we were sitting down away from the concourse. We have now eaten here twice while at HNL and would likely choose it again. Not great, but certainly not bad and almost worth the money (which is praise considering the prices at airport food places.)
