“Nice start to a Hawaiian Island Vacation”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 November 2013

Having stayed in Waikiki multiple times, this was our first experience at the Hyatt. We had a lovely ocean-front room with a large lanai that included a table & chairs. On the 17th floor we were just high enough not to hear the fairly minimal street noise, but not so high as to lose some of the interesting views (surfers). The staff were very welcoming and accommodating. Complimentary chairs to take across the street to the beach were much appreciated. The pool is small, but the food brought to our cabana was excellent. I found the bed a bit soft, but there was so much to do, did not spend a lot of time there.

Green Features: Glad to see this hotel includes a recycling program that is still missing at so many in Waikiki.

Between 2007-2010, I went to Oahu about 6 times, and stayed here 4. Let me tell you what I and my family experienced.

Rooms: 5 of 5 Stars. Clean , comfortable , roomy, and something about the way it smelled upon opening the door, was pretty nice too. Beds were plush, pillows lulled me to sleep, and every balcony we had facing the ocean was breathtaking.

Service: 5 stars all the way. WE had a mixup with a travel agent that didnt even book the place due to a lapse of stupidity, so upon check in, we were told that we had NOTHING booked. They not only solved that by giving us a room ASAP, but also a free ocean view upgrade from a city view. The front desk person saw on record that we have been there multiple times and showed us PURE ALOHA spirit but telling us that this was his way of giving us a greater vacation. MAHALO to you sir!

Facilities: The breakfast buffet was filling, delicious and the staff and location overlooking Kalakaua with mr Duke looking at us with raised arms, was fantastic. This is THE hotel to be at when staying in the area. The beachside cafe was awesome, but also the rent a car service and staff were very helpful and very nice!

Overall : This hotel is truly amazing and beautiful. I cannot find a single thing to disklike. Even on Rainy Days, this place is awesome, and a tad bit romantic. cheers!!!

Stayed here for anniversary. The manager, James, was very helpful and sent up gift and card for us. Mark in the regency club was excellent. Great location within walking distance to several restaurants in all price ranges.
The balcony was so nice we decided to have dinner there one night. You can buy beer and wine to go for reasonable prices in the ABC stores on property and several nearby restaurants do carry out.
Breakfast in the Regency club was good. They have tables on deck outside overlooking the beach.
Will stay here next time in Oahu

My friend and I stayed here as part of a holiday package. We had a partial ocean view room on 36th floor in the Ewa wing. The view was terrific we could see the mountains and the ocean as well as the lights of Waikiki. The room was a good size and very clean. We had a double bed each which made for excellent nights sleep. Our package included the buffet breakfast which was superb, some mornings there was a queue for breakfast but we never waited very long to be seated. The beach was easily accessible, and we took advantage of Happy hour at the Swim bar several times. There are plenty of places to eat outside of the hotel as the on-site restaurants are pricey.
We arrived at the hotel well before check in time but our room was already for us which we really appreciated.
All the staff were very cheerful and made you feel welcome. Dale made amazing omelettes at the breakfast buffet, well worth the wait to watch him cooking 5 pans at one time.
We would be very happy to stay here again.

Room Tip: Rooms away from elevators are quieter. It was worth upgrading to a partial ocean view but views of...

The Hyatt is perfectly located next to the International Market and right across from the beach. We've stayed there many times and have it scheduled for our next trip in the spring. It might be a few dollars more but the family rate is perfect and we would highly suggest this hotel. Hawaii at it's best!

Room Tip: Get an ocean view room. It's worth the extra money.

We stayed as a family including 2 small children, for this reason the hotel is a great choice for close proximity to many places around Honolulu. The Beach is literally across the road, as is the Duke Statue and the trolley stop, the International Market Place (soon to close), the Food Pantry (supermarket) are all within a short walk.

The front desk is unfortunately located one flight up, so stairs and an escalator are really the only options aside from a small lift that is designated for the inhouse Beauty Spa.

There are beautiful exotic birds in the lobby that are named and quite an attraction for guests. There was a long queue at checkin but this was due to our arrival on a Roberts Hawaii transfer shuttle which does take a lot of passengers directly after their flights in from Australia.
To ease the wait we were handed bottles of water and there is a decanter of chilled punch at the counter which was a hit with the kids!

Luckily for us our room was ready which I really appreciated as checkin is not till 3:00 , however the pool is a great place to relax if the room is not ready which is what our friends did.
Happy Hour poolside is 4-6 pm and Barbara made our visit very memorable with her attentive service.

We stayed on the 15th floor 1504 in the Ewa tower- the view was great- part city and part ocean- very pretty. Try to avoid rooms near the elevator- our friends were near one and apparently it was very loud- especially at night.

The rooms are adequate, a good size bathroom - we had a cot as well as a single bed in the room along with the 2 double beds as my husband in 6'ft 7.

Breakfast is a buffet which had a great choice of foods - the omlette chef is amazing- Dale had five pans on the go and flipped each one with skill while still holding a polite conversation.
Don't be put off by the queue-its worth the wait. Spinach, Green onion, salmon and swiss cheese.

There is a farmers market Thursday evening along with music - a great experience. The waterfall and orchids in the courtyard are beautiful and really add to the charm and elegance of this hotel.
I would stay again.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms near the lift/elevator

We had a four night stay at the Hyatt after spending eight nights in Kauai. We booked partial sea view rooms and they were definitely partial and not worth the extra. They were also disabled rooms and were a little bit jaded and perhaps could do with a new lick of paint and new tiling in the bathroom. There was very little wardrobe space (which was in the bathroom which seemed a bit odd) and drawer space was limited. For us it wasn't a problem as we were only there a few days but if you had packed for a fortnight you wouldn't have been able to unpack all your case. Like all big chain hotels, desk staff were pleasant and a bit cool but I guess that's what we expected. The restaurants were also quite expensive so we only had one meal there.

Room Tip: Don't bother with the partial sea view, it really isn't worth it
