“An Outstanding Stay in Waikiki!”
Reviewed 19 December 2013

Recently returned from my 6 night stay at the Hyatt Regency Waikiki. I am a Hyatt Platinum member and had the most impressive Front Desk Employee I have ever encountered in Tom, working 12/11 when I checked in. He took the time to acknowledge my Status, Welcome Me Back to the Hotel, patiently explained all of the amenities I would enjoy as a Platinum Member and secured me an absolutely beautiful room in the Diamond Head Tower. He was truly Friendly and Professional and made me feel most Welcome. My stay at the Hotel was delightful, I love the central location of the Property in Waikiki directly accross from the "Duke Statue" area of Waikiki Beach and walking distance to great shopping and restaurants. All of the staff were extremely friendly and went out their way to make their guests feel truly welcome--the Spa was Beautiful, Dinner at Japengo delightful and all in all, a great Six nights. Highly recommend the Hyatt Regency Waikiki!

Very well situated on exiting Hotel you are on the main thoroughfare with all the shops and hotels in close proximity, across the road you have the beach. Our room on the 3rd floor with balcony overlooked the main highway, noise was blocked out at night by double glazing, otherwise was good to listen to the music and watch dancing on the open air stage from adjoining hotels. The room was clean and tidy as was bathroom. The staff in all areas very pleasant and helpful. There are shops, cafes etc within the Hotel. Good pools, dining and food good, although plenty of cheap buffet meals and happy hours at different Hotels and entertainment. Thoroughly enjoyed stay here.

Room Tip: Dont have a room close to a lift, as could be noisy,

This hotel has a fantastic location. Walking distance to shops and restaurants and across the road from the beach.
The checkin staff are great and friendly.
The rooms are neat and tidy, however they are a little dated. The doors to the rooms slam closed and can be extremely loud.
The breakfast buffet is reasonable, but the food is the same each day so can become very repetitive fir a long stay.
We were traveling with a 9 month old, the little extras offer at the hotel made the stay rewarding.
The valet parking staff are great and will help as much as possible.
Overall a good hotel. If you can get a package, it is even better. Would recommend a stay here.

We stayed at the Hyatt Regency for 7 nights in Dec 2013. Location is perfect. Close to shops, restaurants and the beach. Beach is 2 mins walk from the hotel. Restaurants are all around the hotels e.g International Market place food court, McDonalds, Burger King, KFC, etc etc. It is also close to bus stop where you can catch the different tourist trolleys. ABC stores are also all around and in the hotel.

Reception staff were most helpful. We request for early check in but our room was not available when we arrived (approx 11am). I requested for an upgrade using extra Gold passport points and got upgraded to the 39th floor and we could check in right away. Floor 35-40 are for Regency club and you can enjoy breakfast and afternoon tea everyday.

Room was a bit dated but the ocean view is unbeatable. We had 2 double beds ( I rang before our trip and was told their double bed is the same as Australia Queen size bed but they are not Queen size) for 2 adults and 1 child. Beds were comfortable.

Swimming pool was a bit small but we still had a good time. There is a self server laundry service on level 4 which was very helpful. $3 for washing machine and $3 for dryer and $1.25 for washing powder.

Bell service was pretty ordinary. Didn't feel particularly welcomed. They seems so busy all the time that they don't have time to cater for our needs.

Overall we had a wonderful time and wouldn't choose another hotel for our trip. We will definitely be back.

Room Tip: request to be away from the lift

The best part of this hotel is the location. You will be right across the street from Waikiki Beach. Be sure to visit the pool and hot tub. One of our favorite evenings after a full day of activities was enjoying drinks at happy hour in the hot tub with delicious appetizers for our dinner, visiting with other guests, and watching an amazing sunset. If you plan to spend a lot of time in your room, then this is probably not the hotel for you. But if you intend to enjoy beautiful Waikiki and want to be where there's lots of action, stay at the Hyatt.

I booked the Hyatt for three nights after switching from another hotel. The rooms are old and desperately need a remodel. I'm not sure if this true but an employee at the Hyatt said renovations will begin by Spring 2014. But they have over 1,200 rooms so it will be a long time before you'll see a newly updated room. One more thing, the hotel puts air fresheners in the A/C vent!!! If that bugs you, ask maintenance to remove it like I did. So enough with the negative....Wow!!!! What a view!! The ocean view made up for the outdated room. I was on the 23rd Floor and it was breathtaking. The front desk was kind enough to upgrade me after accidentally giving me a smelly smoking room. The location is perfect for shoppers! Parking is expensive at $30 a night but worth paying for. There is absolutely no street parking nearby and cheaper than a parking ticket. If you choose to stay at the Hyatt, book an ocean view room or ask for an upgrade at check in. It's worth the extra money.

"Resort Fees" are the sneakiest scam in the hotel business. It is also a slap in the face of customers as they check in. It puts hotel staff in an awkward position as they must inform people checking in that the room they prepaid (via priceline) will now cost an extra $25 a night. RIP OFF. Tarnishes the whole stay. With a strong enough push back, they may waive the fee, which is nice. But the damage has been done with respect to trust.
