“Great location, terrific staff but decor tired”
Reviewed 8 January 2014 via mobile

Check in staff were very welcoming and prompt. Bell staff were helpful and very obliging. Food was good, pool is lovely and location is terrific. Hotel itself feels a bit tired and dated but rooms are a good size and quiet with nice balconies, good views and everything worked just great. Honolulu is a great location that risks resting on its laurels rather than reinvesting in refurbishing a bunch of tired assets.

This was my first stay at this property, and I was so pleased. The staff is knowledgeable, and friendly. Omg! The beds were so comfortable. Any future guest will love the 2 large, swimming, pools. This hotel is literally steps away from the beach. Oh, and the Italian restaurant near the lobby is amazing!!!! Very cute waiters!!!:-) I'll be back for Christmas 2014. A+++

We stayed here over Christmas and had a fabulous time. Was much busier than our last holiday (October) but still won us over.
The regency club breakfasts are wonderful and sitting overlooking Waikiki beach having breakfast is amazing!!!!!.
Shor and Japengo are marvellous restaurants and the pool bar is great also but much cheaper if you want a casual meal.
Yes, the carpets are a bit worn and refreshing it here and there may help but it has old Hawaiian charm, especially the lifts that look like beach huts. The other hotels in the area still just look like every other hotel... The Hyatt gives that extra Waikiki feeling.
The best thing about the Hyatt is that the pool/ bar area is not at street level. It is a bit more private.
The pool staff are amazing, so friendly. Recommend hiring a cabana for privacy and shelter!!!!
Our housekeeper was fabulous, we left a note for extra coffee and she obliged every day.
Since leaving, I have emailed the hotel with a credit card query and the quick response from the general manager and particularly from Suzanne in accounts has been fabulous!!!

Waving I have had queries regarding my account which have been cleared up due to the quick

Room Tip: Pay extra for an Ocean view and the benefits form the regency club are great.

We spent five nights here. The experience was so too special I will remember this hotel forever. We got the room on the highest floor which we thought it was great! I loved the big room and nice spa with live music in the pool area. Everything was great until that night the restaurant on 3rd floor got burning stove, and everyone got evacuated at 2am. I think we spent like 2 hours from the top floor walking down from stairs. After one sleepless and walking exercise night, we got a letter from hotel apologizing for what happened! But that's it! So that's it!

Room Tip: Top floor is great (if there was no fire drill)

Aloha,

Thank you for providing your feedback. We are sorry that what was an amazing visit was interrupted by the morning evacuation from a kitchen fire during your visit early last year. Safety is our primary concern for our guests and associates and we regret you were not satisfied with the follow up following your stay. Your comments will be shared with our room director for further review.

We stayed two nights on our way to Kauai. The best two things about this hotel were the great location right off Waikiki beach and the view of the mountains out the window. I don't know if I would like it as much if we didn't have this view. The room was very comfortable and the bathroom was roomy. The decor was a bit more suitable for a business hotel than for a resort but was not offensive. This is probably not the best hotel if you want to relax, it is in a busy area and very popular with Japanese tourists, but for a couple of days to explore Honolulu, it's perfectly fine.

We stayed four nights in a Ocean View in the Diamond Head Tower (although no view of Diamond Head). The hotel is in a great location across from the statue of the "Duke" and Waikiki beach and centered close to many fine restaurants and stores. Although the hotel is nice and self-contained with restaurants and shops, our room was in need of an upgrade. If your stay is part of a package (like pay for three nights and get the fourth night free, which was our package), then the pricing is reasonable. Also, the restaurant in the hotel, Japengo, has excellent Pacific rim food (the salmon and desserts are terrific).

Room Tip: Highest floor with at least an "Ocean View"
