“Central Location ... Lots of activity”
Reviewed 14 January 2014

We checked in on Boxing Day and checked out on January 3. Granted that it was probably the busiest time of year but it was very noisy! We were on one of the lower floors and initially we had a room right next to the elevators. Between the traffic noise and the constant noise of the elevators going up and down we had a poor sleep the first night. When we asked for a change, the staff was happy to oblige. We moved away from the elevators which helped but the traffic noise was still extremely loud. The hotel provided us with a fan which helped provide some white noise but I would definitely recommend that you try a higher floor or find something that is off of the main drag. It was great to be right across from the beach and the hotel itself was beautiful but if you are looking for a quiet Hawaiian getaway you will probably be disappointed!

It has been a while since I have been to Honolulu and it is definitely a big, crowded city. We rented a car which allowed us to get away to some quieter places ... try Kailua, Makaha and the North Shore for great day trips ... but if it is a tranquil Hawaiian holiday is what you are looking for then the Hyatt at Waikiki is probably not the place! If you don't mind the crowds and the noise of city life, and you want to be close to restaurants, entertainment and great shopping then you will love it!

Room Tip: Stay away from the elevators and choose the higher floors

Exactly a year ago since we stayed at the beautiful hotel in Waikiki . Front desk was busy and the line was long but we had a nice approach by the lobby porter while he was cleaning the wall . Didnt see his name or name tag. Got checked in in about 10 mins approximately . Front desk clerk genuinely smiled and welcome us :) She got out of her desk and her us wear our beautiful welcome complimentary Lei's ! So sweet little thing but it was a big thing to us . Rooms are nice and clean . Balcony is huge and facing the Waikiki beach . Restaurants are nice . Breakfast meal the best in town . We had the buffett 3 days in a row and had so much of great tasting papaya and pineapple ! We dont have these kind in California . They are supersweet :)
We will be back to visit again this year ! Congratulations Hyatt Waikiki !

I stayed here for 7 nights total during dec/jan. First of all this location is perfect, close to all shops and resturants and the beach. The manager at the hotel made my holiday the best here. I really appriciated how the treat their loyal members here. I was upgraded to the highest floor with an ocean view wich had a stunning view over the Waikiki beach. If i have to complain about something there will be two things. 1. The hotel need a renovation and 2. The regency club was great but to many people there sitting for hours wich made it hard for us to be there. I will definitely stay here again my next trip to Honolulu.

great location, clean spacious rooms.

the travel desk was awful, they would inflate the price for excursions by more than 40 % on the internet price. rude when you point this out. not very helpful. try to sell there deals rather than listen to your interests.

Aloha,

Thank you for sharing your comments. We are glad that you enjoyed the overall service. We do regret the issues from the Tour Desk staff. While the Tour Desk is not operated by Hyatt employees we will definitely make sure to follow up with them and share our guest comments to prevent similar situations in the future. We do hope that you will consider staying with us again in the future.

We have two children aged 4 and 6 and loved our 5 nights in Waikiki. The location of the hotel was superb for shopping as well as going to the beach and sightseeing. I can't say thank you enough to the reception staff as we arrived at 9am in the morning after a sleepless overnight flight from Sydney and the desk attendant went out of her way to get us a room straight away as the kids were really restless. The room was spacious and we had a lovely ocean view. We enjoyed putting the kids to bed each night and then sitting on the balcony with a glass of wine watching all the interesting people walking down the main street. The kids really loved the free cultural activities and it was very convenient that all of the tours left from the rear of the hotel. We had the buffet breakfast each morning and the only negative thing I could say was that it was very busy and there didn't seem to be enough staff, you had to track them down to get any additional service after being seated. Would definitely stay here again next time we are in Waikiki.

Spent two nights at the Hyatt Regency Waikiki Resort and Spa which provided a perfect end to a great Hawaii vacation. Was upgraded to an ocean view room on the 38th floor which was just beautiful. The use of grass cloth wall paper and the Caribbean colonial influenced furniture gave the room a delightful sense of place. The room was spotless clean and serviced twice a day. The staff was very responsive to my request to make-up the room first thing in the morning. The amenities were excellent. The only problem with the room was that the wall to wall carpeting was worn, not torn, not dirty, just well used.

I upgraded to Regency Room status which I highly recommend. The Regency Room is a lounge on the third floor were they serve an excellent extended continental breakfast with both western and Japanese food items. In the afternoon they offer cookies, late afternoon appetizers and then dessert items. I didn't try the evening treats, but the breakfast and cookies were excellent. The room itself is handsome and it has a large private outdoor terrace were you can enjoy your breakfast. Its a great hassle free was to start your day in Waikiki. The host and hostess in the lounge were a great resource toward making your trip special.

Personnel at this hotel are universally friendly and cooperative. Any request I had was warmly received and immediately handled. A package I was expecting was acknowledged at check-in and promptly delivered to my room. As I previously said, my room was made up on my schedule and not the hotels. Checkout was a breeze.

I did use the spa for a lomi lomi massage and facial. Both treatments were excellent with super practitioners. I highly recommend it. My only problem, and its a big one, was with the men;s locker room, which was much too small and very poorly laid out. The lockers were ridiculously tiny and there were not even wall hooks to hang your clothes or robe while changing, something that would be so easy to fix and make it more convenient for the patrons. Both arriving and departing there were four patrons trying to use the facility. Tripping over each other does not make for a relaxing spa experience. It is obvious that Hyatt Spa management does not include any men who have used this facility.

Overall, an excellent hotel that I look forward to visiting again.

Room Tip: An ocean view room is a real treat hear. Mine looked west down the length of Waikiki. It was worth...

This hotel is in an excellent location. The ocean view room is large and clean, but it is dated, needs a renovation. The breakfast is very good with a view of the Waikiki beach, but expensive. I will stay there again after they renovated the rooms.
