“Great place to watch the sunset”
Reviewed 20 October 2013

We took a walk around the park and finally settled down on one of their many benches to watch the sunset. It was breathtaking even though there were clouds in the sky. There were several couples taking wedding photos nearby and a few photographers taking pictures of the sunset. Very relaxing!

“Close Comfortable and "Shells" to Boot”
Reviewed 16 October 2013

We spent a couple afternoons here. Once with our group of six travelers and another with ten in the group, four of whom live nearby. Nice to have this spot so close to the crowds of Waikiki Beach without the crowds. Our local hosts informed us that indeed when the Honolulu residents want a quick commute for an afternoon to enjoy the sun and sand, this is the spot. There is plenty of room to spread out and nice walking paths in the park.

For those of us who like to spend some beach time "shelling", this park, along with Papohaku Beach on Molokai, turned out to be among the better places on our trip for coming away with a good variety of seashells. From the beach area, walk through the park to the eastern or "harbor" side of Magic Island. The eastern side is all rocky and not suitable for entering the water except for one small cove-like entry down near the southern tip. You can wade in here and collect as they wash in or root among the rocks and find a nice collection of ones previously deposited by past high tides. Probably around a third of the shells from our four island trip came from this park. Happy Hunting!

“A very nice park”
Reviewed 14 October 2013

You probably will encounter locals having luaus. It is a great family style park. It is less crowded than the beaches near the hotels in Waikiki. It has a more laid back feel.

“Relax and Enjoy!”
Reviewed 13 October 2013

Never miss the beauty of the island!

Ala Moana Beach Park is away from the "action" of Waikiki, yet it allows you to enjoy the beauty of the beaches and the surroundings.

Enjoy the beautiful walk around the park or enjoy the beach at the end of the park...either way, all is beautiful.

Conveniently located, you can walk or you can drive. Free parking located just at the entrance of the park.

“The high cost of living”
Reviewed 10 October 2013

Although this is a very beautiful beach park, there are a lot of homeless people living here in the park. I know the city tries to keep things as clean as possible just be prepared for a few locals who don't appreciate your presence in their sourroundings.
