This hike starts from the parking lot leading to a viewpoint above makapuu lighthouse. The path is paved so you can take a stroller all the way up. I didn't feel the hike was too strenuous and having it paved made for little to no issue about navigating the terrain. We didn't see any whales but we did go up around 5pm which gave a great sunset view of the ocean and clouds. It was very cool to see the pink clouds from the sunset reflected onto the ocean giving dense hues of blues on the ocean surface with large pink spots. It's beautiful and breathtaking. The top of the lighthouse give a great view of the northeastern portion of Oahu.
This is definitely one place that captures the beauty of Oahu and must not be missed. In addition, this trail also opens up to Makapuu beach which I will review separately.
