“Great Little Hole in the Wall Italian Restaurant!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 June 2014

I love coming here for lunch and eating their funghi lasagna. For $8 you get a foil tray with lasagna and a side salad. The seating in this restaurant probably can't hold more than 15 fit snugly. But I love the vibe in here - kinda woody and rustic. Hard to believe it's in Chinatown right next to the entrance of the marketplace. The lasagna had such a great flavor - the mushrooms were fresh and the cheese had just enough saltiness to it to not overtake the mushrooms. It all melted in my mouth. Given that there's only two layers of lasagna noodles in the tray it was enough for me. I can't wait to go back and eat here again.

“What a Find!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 March 2014

Our daughter discovered Bruno's Forna while at University of Hawaii Manoa and took mom and dad during their recent visit. This is one of those gems of a "hole in the wall" restaurant that everyone should know about. The gentleman behind the counter explained how he made noodles there but the sauce and assembly of most items took place at their other restaurant. Daughter ordered a coffee and said it was the best she'd ever had. The photo shows her "Country Panini." The rest of us enjoyed Lasagnas (Bolognese and Carbonara) and Salmon Panini. Bread and water came with the meal. The lasagnas were pre-made and in aluminum tins. Don't let that fool you; they are fresh, authentic, hot, filling, and only $8 each. A real value!

“A Great Find!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 August 2013 via mobile

After spending the walking around Chinatown, shopping for produce and stopping for a nice pho soup, we stumbled in to Bruno's and stuck our heads in for a peek. And then the smells got us! The menu is sparse, but with dishes as tasty as the funghi lasagne I had, there's no need for lots of variety. And the bread...wow! This is proper Italian bread! Light, chewy and airy with a nice crust. Perfect for dipping in a good olive oil.

The lasagne is freshly prepared and then frozen, making it easy to bake either at the restaurant or at home. Its nice and traditional and not like the heavily layered stuff most Americans are used too.
