“Must eat - Platinum Tasting Menu”
Reviewed 23 November 2012

We went here directly from the airport. We were jet lagged from flying in from the East Coast, and this meal woke us up! We ordered 2 Platinum Tasting Menus and shared it among the 3 of us. Everything was delicious. The salad was perfectly dressed. The various types of meat just melt in your melt. The servers come around make sure that we don't overcook it. They slice and cut up the meat thinly and in small chucks. Completely different that what you typically see for waygu beef at fine dining steakhouses. One of the best meals in Oahu!

“Like being back in Japan!”
Reviewed 17 August 2012

So if you have had Korean BBQ, this is the Japanese version. After living in Japan for a while, and coming back to a major US metropolis, I have not had problems finding Korean BBQ restaurants but have had hit or miss luck with Japanese Yakiniku restaurants. Luckily we stumbled upon this place. The people and food there were quite authentic and it was as if I had been secretly transported back to Japan for the evening. It was also quite telling because while there are a ton of Japanese tourists in Honolulu, we were the only non-Japanese ethnicity there. Despite this, we were treated very kindly and everything is both in English and Japanese, with the wait staff speaking both languages.

We went for the platinum menu, which while at a steep price of $70 per person is worth it to try all the fun items on the menu--especially the Wagyu beef and thinly sliced galbi marinated in a delicious sauce. What a wonderful experience!

“Grilled meat, Japanese style, expensive”
Reviewed 5 July 2012

portions are small, but the meat was delicious. You grill the raw meat in front of you and the servers will help get you started. Very friendly. I had a quite an appetite and ordered 4 meat dishes so the total bill came to roughly $120.

“Yakiniku Hiroshi Beef heaven”
Reviewed 3 May 2012

We heard a lot of great things about this place on the local Yelp and when we showed up we were pleased to find out that most of the clientele was Japanese (a good sign).

Overall we had a great experience, we went for the platinum set course for 2, we had a most refreshing moment when our server asked us which kind of sauce we wanted with our meats, usually to the very simple question:"which one is better?" you will often get a reply that goes like;"they are all good!", instead our server based on our order and the fact that we expressed that we wanted to be more adventurous he said with a smile:"this one is better". The rest of the meal proceeded in a similar way and he brought us sauces that were not on the menu asking us if we wanted to try something more authentic!

Now your experience/mileage might vary with this, BUT the beef was so "good" (fatty content, marbling and quality) that it actually did NOT taste like beef at all! A little bit of a turnoff for us: we like our beef beefy. The best item was the beef tongue (I was not going to try that but my girlfriend gave me a piece), it had the most intense beef flavor I ever had.

I wanted to go again the following day but they are closed at lunchtime...

Too bad, next time in Oahu we'll be there for sure!

“Authentic Yakiniku Restaurant Outside of Japan”
Reviewed 4 August 2011

Great authentic Japanese barbecue, the owner-chef takes great pride in the selection of meat cuts and presentation. This is not a franchise operations that abound in Honolulu, so be prepared to pay for the experience. Their wagyu steak is outstanding...and a must even though it is pricey. Also, excellent selection of wines at great values.
