It was a little tough to find (especially with all the adult clubs in the area) but the food was great. Fresh, well prepared and very tasty. Look forward to returning. Had the sushi combo and it was all really good.

Let me preface this by saying that my husband travels internationally for business. He probably spends 4 months out of the year in Asia, and he lived in Japan for 2 years. Sushi is one of our favorite meals, and this was hands down the best sushi we have ever had. We loved it so much, we returned the next night for dinner. We almost decided against eating here when we saw the seedy location. It is literally sandwiched between two strip clubs and a bus graveyard. If you are looking for authentic sushi, this is the place. Both times when we ate there, we were the only gaijins. Very, very fresh and delicious. (We probably won't eat here when we travel with the kids.)

Well I don't know about other Sushi places in Honolulu but this place was some of if not the best Sushi I have ever had.
It is located between two strip clubs but don't let that stop you. Once you get inside you will be dinning on some of the best Sushi on the island. Service is great and when we were there there were two old masters manning the sushi bar.
The fish is fresh fresh fresh. We missed out on their famous Butter Yaki Scollops so you should try them. Almost every table ordered them. We just didn't know about them.
Menu is extensive so be prepared. The platters were the stars of our selections, of sushi and sashimi. Wow. Just writing about it I want to be there eating. So please go and don't forget to make a reservation you will need to.

If you brave the truck park and the strip clubs, you'll be richly rewarded. We stopped off here for a quick lunch before catching a flight out to Big Island. The soft shell crab and the scallops were a particular highlight, but everything we had here was delicious. It was also amazing to sit at the bar and watch the sushi chef at work. We chatted to some locals sitting behind us who come here all the time and were raving about it. We're back in Honolulu for a night next week and I hope to make a return visit!

This is an authentic Japanese restaurant in both atmosphere and food. It gives the appearance of a hole in the wall, but well worth the effort to find. Inside, Akasaka has the decor and the feel of a good family-owned restaurant of the sort you'd find in Japan (where I've lived and traveled extensively). A real find--first rate, and friendly as well. And the scallops are really something special.
