“A workout but beautiful”
Reviewed 12 October 2013

Going to Manoa Falls was a last minute decision. We were not prepared! The rainforest was Beautiful! The hike was tough. A must: OLD sneakers/hiking boots, Last part of the hike very muddy and slippery, NO SANDALS; Long sleeves/pants, bug spray, mosquitos bites galore! The hike took me an hour going up, not in the best of shape. The waterfalls were a disappointment, after the hike. Pretty small, not a lot of room for spectators.

“Great short Hike”
Reviewed 11 October 2013

The hike to Manoa falls is not that long and really is unique if done during the rainy times - vs doing it during the dry ones.

“Worth the muddy walk”
Reviewed 11 October 2013 via mobile

I am so glad I decided to do this. It was a short walk but we were in rubber thongs! We still made it to the top and it was well worth it. The water was beautiful and not too cold to swim in. We got the best photos too.

“Beautiful, but be prepared for MUD!”
Reviewed 10 October 2013

The jungle here is gorgeous - really other worldly. The first two-thirds of the trail were easy. It was a steady climb up, but doable for my family that is used to hiking. The last third of the trail before the waterfall is steep and extremely muddy and slippery. We were prepared with light waterproof hikers, but it was still tough going. The waterfalls were pretty, but not that impressive for my family. We have prettier waterfalls in our home of the Pacific Northwest. Getting back down the trail was tricky and slippery. In spite of being a seasoned hiker and used to hiking in the rain, I slipped on a step and landed in the mud. I have half a dozen large painful bruises to show for it. Not sure I would do this hike again, even though parts of it were gorgeous.

“Nice waterfall, not too strenuous”
Reviewed 10 October 2013

I love going to Manoa Falls even though it's not the biggest or most dramatic waterfall. It's a relatively short walk if you're in shape and while it can be muddy it's not that difficult to navigate if you watch your step. It's very green and tropical for a reason--when you're in Waikiki look up toward Manoa and you'll see that the clouds pile up there almost every day and dump some rain. It's a pretty waterfall with a small pool so you can cool off if it's a hot day. If you're adventurous check out some of the other trails that intersect this one and go high up the mountain. The Lyon Arboretum and Botanical Garden, located near the trailhead, is a nice add-on for this excursion.
