I have to say I was extremely upset with the tour guide we had for this incredible museum. His last name was Tanaka and clearly pro-Japan throughout his tour. I respect his passion and interest in the history of Pearl Harbor, but he was completely tone-deaf towards his delivery during what should have been very somber, respectful and reverent during parts of the story. Not only did he increase his tone but then proceeded to follow that tone with reciting the number of lives lost with a smile on his face. Quite honestly, I thought the man was insane. Being a proud American myself, I was deeply offended by his temperament and defense of the Japan throughout the tour. I cannot even imagine how a US military veteran or God forbid, a WWII vet would have felt had he been apart of that tour. The irony of it all was mid-tour he had us gather really close citing, "He had been reprimanded by management before for being too loud during his tours." Tanaka should take that as a blessing, because if I were in charge he would've been fired long ago. Shame on him and management for allowing this kind of behavior to go on. Very disappointing and amazed he has been allowed to give tours for as long as he has. I will never recommend family and friends to go on this tour. The rest of the full Pearl Harbor experience was incredible. This not only fell short but left a bad taste in my mouth.
