We thought that all of the staff that we encountered were very nice and helpful.
We will definitely stay again when we come back to Waikiki Beach

Room was beautiful and roomy, loved sitting on balcony and listening to the Hawaiian music from the market most evenings for the one hour of entertainment. Slept so well, not bothered by any noise. The staff was amazing. This is a five and a half star for great value, beautiful rooms and fantastic staff and a great rate. - The Schimps from Nova Scotia, Canada

I stayed here for 10 days, the room was big, with seperate bedroom (just a regular room is what I booked).
FLORIDA, the floors room attendant, was a real delight, very good, friendly and professional. If I could, I would have brought her home to care for my home!!!
The hotel was centrally located a block or so off the beach (read less expensive). All of the staff were friendly, helpful and knowledgeable.
I'd stay here again!

We stayed at the Aqua Wave for 1 week and thoroughly enjoyed our time there. Staff is exceptional, very friendly and helpful. Rooms are very clean, beds are comfortable. Good location, close to everything. I have seen noise complaints, but you are in the middle of downtown. The street noise bothered me a little the first night, fine after that. Brought earplugs but did not use them. We would definitely stay here again.

Just spent a week at this hotel. Having done tons of research on TA ahead of time, I was prepared for all eventualities. Here is my take on this place:

LOCATION: If you like being in the midst of the Waikiki madness, then this is your place. Super convenient to lots of Waikiki stuff, is hectic and crowded around the hotel. If you don't mind that, stay here.

CLEANLINESS: Was pretty clean in my room. The bathrooms are old and had chipped tile, but fairly well maintained. Nothing fancy.

ELEVATORS: Apparently a constant problem. One was broken the first 4 days of my trip and they opened up the service elevator to help with the congestion in the lobby. That was nice.

STAFF: very nice, very friendly. The housekeeping staff always was cheerful and friendly.

NOISE: I was on the 12th floor and the noise was not bad except for Saturday night and when the trash trucks came early in the morning. Those earplugs they provide? Use 'em! There's no way to totally block out screaming drunks, though.

PARKING: Kind of a pain --- too few spots (tiny spots at that) under the hotel and when it's full you have to go next door where they lift your car up into a stacked garage. The parking stalls under the hotel require expert parking skills except for a few large ones.

INTERNET: The wireless sucks, period. If you are up at 5 a.m. it's tolerable but any other time it was glacially slow. I resorted to using the paid internet in the business center.

NEIGHBORHOOD: Lots of party people and (sad to say) some very forward hookers who hang out near the hotel. I hate it that you can't walk down the street without being bothered. Not good.

All in all, it was OK. I would recommend it with some reservations. The staff is trying hard and I particularly commend Joy Adler for trying to run a good hotel under challenging circumstances.

The Wave is 2 short blocks to beach, easy for us seniors, and was surrounded by all the well-known Waikiki hotels. Many places to eat all around, from mainland chain places to Korean BBQ and beyond. Room was a very good size for me ,my wife and our son. The beds were very good and we had enough room for all our stuff. The two elevators were quick which was good for us on the tenth floor. Noise from outside was a slight problem at night and very much a problem. in the early hours (around 5:30 am) when trash trucks right below us emptied as many as 6 dumpsters, loudly banging away for fifteen minutes. Ask for a room up as high as you can get, away from the dumpsters. Hotel has very good fitness center, but a cheapo lousy “business center” that charged even for simple internet access. Entrance from the street was up a set of a dozen or so steps to the lobby. Only a problem if you arrived by car as we did and no bellman was on hand to help with large luggage. Parking in hotel garage (no elevator access from there) was not a problem during our five day stay, always found a spot to park, and other public parking is close by. Tip: Go out the rear of hotel thru the touristy “International Marketplace” (full of food courts, kiosks, stores, a post office, etc etc all in one short block , and come out on Kalakaua street where all the interesting stuff goes on at night . Lots of entertaining fun! Then two short blocks left takes you to the public part of Waikiki beach and all the surfboard rentals, nighttime entertainment, swimming beach etc. Overall good value for Hawaii hotels, and a very good location. Not the Hyatt, but it isn't trying to be, and you will have money left for doing more fun stuff.

It's too bad that I can't say how nice this hotel is. The rooms are clean and the staff is friendly, but the noise is really atrocious! I was traveling with another couple ( who had a different room) and none of us got a good night's sleep. They have two clubs here and the music and drunks go most of the night.
The staff tried to help, and gave us different rooms for the next night, but it was just as bad.
I also have to say, they claim free WiFi, but it is virtually non existent. The connection was occasional at best, and when it worked, it was so slow, I ended up doing most of my emails and web searches on my Iphone.
