“Convenient, Friendly”
Reviewed 24 October 2012

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! The staff were super friendly and welcoming! Thanks! The tour desk was great and efficient! There was a bit of street noise but it didn't stop any of us sleeping. The rooms were large and maybe just a tad tired but I think reflected sufficiently in the cost which was very affordable and they were clean. The hotel is very well situated in Waikiki with very little walking distance to the shopping strip, restaurants and beach. If you love Mai Tai's you must go to the Royal Hawaiin for a Royal Mai Tai at sunset - warning - only have one!

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the main street. Less Noisy!

This is an old review, so perhaps the Pearl has changed her ways since we stayed there. This place stands out in my memory as one of the worst hotel experiences I have ever had.

First of all, when I made the booking I asked if the hotel had parking because I knew my family members wanted to rent a car. They told me that parking was available. When we arrived, we were told that the parking was unavailable and were directed to park at a neighboring hotel. (A very shady place, where the parking attendants happened to be running a scam.)

The hotel room was huge but there was only a small couch to sit on. It was kind of like hanging out in an unfurnished apartment. There was no maid service during our stay at all.

On the second day, we came back to hotel to find ourselves locked out of the room by the hotel staff. It was an hour long run around until we finally found out that they had booked somebody else into the room at a higher price and wanted to "down grade" us to another room in the hotel. They would not let us enter our room until we agreed to clear out our stuff so their other guests could move in.

When we saw the room they wanted to put us in, which smelled weird, didn't have a balcony or enough beds to sleep everyone in our party, we decided to check out of the hotel instead. We were much happier staying at the Marriott Courtyard down the street.

We thought this place was exactly like a motel and we were not fans. The staff are fabulous and very welcoming but the room although clean and a good size with a king size bed was on the walkway with large floor level windows and we didn't feel that safe. It was quite noisy with traffic noise (we were on 7th floor) and other guests coming and going. We had to switch our air con unit off as it was old and too noisy. We were only there for one night before our flight home and it was cheap enough but not sure I would stay there again.

hospitable, clean, cost effective, convenient to restaurants and beach. Jamar is the da man!! This business trip alots 24 layover in Honolulu and Waikiki allowed tremendous restaurant and leg stretching opportunities. The front desk was easy to work with on taxi accomodations and room changes! Very reasonable price for the area!!

We were there for 4 nights. The room was large and very clean. The lobby is smaller than a lot of hotels but that is good. The staff can see who is coming and going. This made us feel secure. All of the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. They make great recommendations for places to eat and places to go. They arranged for our shuttle ride back to the airport. They show a lot of aloha.

Room Tip: If street noise bothers you ask for a room on a quiet location. We were on the 4th floor facing the...

We stayed in Waikiki for a few days before heading home, and everyone at the Waikiki Pearl was very friendly and very helpful. The rooms were clean and updated. We go some recommendations from Jamar on local restaurants, and we had a great meal thanks to him! The location is great, it is in walking distance to great shopping and the beach! And you can catch the trolley right down the street. The only tricky part is if you have a rental car, as parking is minimal. Overall it was a great experience.

Nice size rooms, easy walk to the beach at Wakiki, friendly staff. No frills, but very reasonable price. We paid $130/night for an upper floor room with a partial ocean view. $20/night extra if you have a car. Great deal for Wakiki.

Room Tip: Upper floors are quieter and have some view.
