This isn't a fancy hotel by any means. It is sort of tucked into a street, and there is limited parking. However, the customer service is top notch. They held our luggage for us before we could check in without a cost. Check-in was easy. They gave us a free roll-away without charge. If I went back to Oahu, I would not hesitate to stay here again.

Room Tip: We were with a group of friends (6 total) so we got a Junior Suite with Lanai. There was lots of flo...

With so many hotels located in Waikiki, it was not easy to find one that could be both good and not expensive. But in the end, after comparing many reviews, we made up our minds to stay at this place and this was definitely a good choice. We really liked its location in a side street of Kuhio Ave. but still within walking distance of Waikiki Beach. This makes the place to be quiet enough but also to be close enough to all the action, shops, restaurants and so on.
In case you don't hire a car when you arrive at Honolulu airport, an easy and cheap way to get to this hotel is by public buses 19 or 20 (they allowed us to board them with our luggage :-)). It is true that the ride takes an hour and fifteen minutes (or maybe a little bit more) but it just costs 2,5$ (you must have the exact amount when boarding the bus because no change is given if you only have bigger bills). These two buses have a stop in Kuhio Ave. just before Nahua St, where the hotel is, so you only have to walk a couple of minutes to get there from this bus stop.
The staff that welcomed us was very friendly, helpful and cheerful, so it looks like they have fun doing their job. Good for them! By the way, it is here, in front of the front desk where they have an Apple computer for guests who do not travel with laptops or other devices. We always appreciate that (we also appreciated the self-laundry they have). The only thing that we could not enjoy was a complimentary breakfast because this hotel doesn't offer it. They do neither offer a swimming pool but well..., who does want a swimming pool when Waikiki Beach is just ten minutes away? Conversely what they do offer are big, comfortable, clean and well equipped rooms (at least our was very big and fully equipped with refrigerator, microwave, tea/coffee facilities and a good and not loud air-conditioning). Our room had also a spacious balcony over Nahua St. which was not noisy at all. These are then the reasons why we are very pleased with our choice and there's no doubt that we would stay here again.

Booked this hotel online after reading 3 star reviews in October of 2013. We arrived in Oahu (2/11/14) 5 days before our reservation here at the pearl and dropped by on the 13th to see what the room would look like. The man at the counter said I couldn't look at the 3 bedroom suite because it was occupied, I asked to see any room and he said I couldn't which I thought was odd but I confirmed our reservation for the 16 th. When our family arrived, they said they no longer had the room I reserved and paid for because they had overbooked. They said they would check other sister properties but supposedly none were available so we were stuck in two rooms down the hall from each other. The room (which it says was recently renovated) was not what I expected for the price. The carpets are stained, the sliding door won't open without extreme pushing, lamps don't work in bedroom, two burner stove wrapped in aluminum, noisy all night! (4 am and still loud downstairs) no blankets, except one thin one on bed, barely any seating in living room and what is there is old style. There is only room for a few cars and it is $25 day. (Which I have to add they comped for the mix-up) and there is a charge for cribs (which they also comped) Normally, I would say it's no big deal but they charge a lot of money (even through hotels.com it's over $380 a night) for what you are receiving. The only bright light is that the staff are very friendly and apologetic and why I didn't insist on moving us somewhere else but I think buyer beware if you are a family with kids that won't sleep through the noises from thin walls.

Aqua Pearl's friendly staff was always at the ready with a smile, greeting, and helpful tips! We stayed for 3 days and the room was clean and fresh! Towels and linens were fresh, beds comfortable, and bathrooms were tidy! The hot water and shower was perfect! This hotel is about 2 blocks from beach in the heart of Waikiki. Close to all the shops, restaurants, ABC stores, small pharmacy, and a food mart around the corner. The sports bar had nice TV's and all the games posted. The bar was clean, nice local people hang out after work for a beer or cocktails, that mixed and mingled with hotel guests. Many Draft pint specials and The Best $3.50 All Day/Night... Mai Tai! Was a great place to wind down at the end of the night! I particularly want to thank Robbie and Nicole - Very helpful, courteous and greeted everyone with a smile. Thank you guys! Keys to success try to check in early! That way if you find a problem with your room - possibly they can fix it or put you in another room. My room was ready at noon on the 8th floor, was very quiet, and comfortable! Didn't stay there for the view!

Room Tip: If you can get up above the 5th floor - less noisy! But I didn't mind the noise - Its Waikiki! N...

So this is no five star hotel or anything like that but it is a great place to stay and reasonably priced and right in Waikiki. The hotel rooms are not fancy, they are very clean though. The suites are huge with a nice sized refer, microwave and a small coffee maker and a lanai (or deck for you mainland folks) Starbucks is right in the corner too! Just remember to book a suite for all this stuff. The regular rooms are smaller and no lanai.

We have stayed twice and both times the room has been super clean. Parking is limited on the property only about twenty stalls available. They do have an over flow lot a block or two away with a clear map of how to get there it will probably takes a minute or two to get there so it is really not that much of an issue. Both locations are pay for park, just how it is.

The staff are all very nice and helpful. Nicole at the front desk really sticks out for us. She was friendly and helpful from the get go. We even set up a stay already with her when we come back again in a few months. That is how much we like to stay here.

Many food options are close by, McDonalds, IHOP, all kinds of local style places and bar and grills. The main drag of Waikiki which, Kalakaua, is two blocks away. Which means the beach is that far too.

The night life is a little less than appealing when the sun goes down i.e. Prostitutes, drunk people, and many other shady types. We never had a problem and there is a lot of foot traffic so we never felt unsafe or anything just putting it out there for you to know.

No pool as far as I know. There is a bar downstairs, we did not go to it so not much to comment on that one. It just looked like your average sports bar.

Just remember it is not a luxury place but it is very nice and it is clean and it is nicely priced for Waikiki. (We get a discount because we live in Hawaii) I give the five stars based on the class of hotel this is and the service.

We were booked in to this hotel for a week and only managed to stay one night and only because we arrived at 11pm with no other choice. The two bedroom suite consisted of one bedroom and a bed with a curtain round it. The preparation of the room was awful, with two of the very few lights not working, the sheets being unclean (one bed had blood stains), the floor was sticky and the carpet had been very badly stained, while the bathroom had not even been wiped over as previous guests hairs were found throughout the shower and bathroom. The only good part of this hotel was the reception desk who apologised and agreed to a refund for the week we had paid for. I recommend spending your holiday elsewhere as this hotel was definitely not providing value for money service.

This hotel is about 2 blocks from beach in the heart of Waikiki. Close to all the shops, restaurants with food mart around the corner. We had a corner suite with full kitchen. Very spacious even with six of us. It only had views of city. No swimming pool but we new that.
I particularly want to thank Nicole and Robbie for being so helpful, courteous and greeted everyone with a smile. Thank you guys.

Room Tip: Corner suites end in 02 e.g. 902, 1302 etc. The higher the room a better view.
