This would be my second visit here within the past decade. The property is most secure despite walking over the homeless bodies to gain entrance. A good homebase for many attractions in the Waikiki area. You can catch many helpful buses from here and beach access is easy. Accommodations are good, but basic. I had a sense that the hotel is keeping in line with the bottomline, but doing their best to provide a pleasant experience. Missed a larger pool area, hot tub, hot breakfast items at the "complimentary breakfast", and complete quiet. Ah, it's either the constant sound of the adjacent hotel's AC or Tiki's loud music....but it is Waikiki afteral. Rooms are very clean and full of the amenities you need. Friendly staff and wonderful Hawaiian singer/dancers at breakfast. The $23 "Resort Fee" is mandatory whether you utilize the accommodations or not. Com'mon, just include it in the total room cost and be up front. A bit deceiving. This is NOT the Royal Hawaiian Hotel, but this is definitely not a low budget inn that you will regret.

Aloha, and thank you for sharing your thoughtful review, we especially enjoy hearing from our return guests. Our daily amenity fee includes, ' Breakfast on the Beach', hotel wide WiFi, movie and game rentals, use of in room safe, local calls, and daily newspaper. Our breakfast also offers the option to purchase hot items such as omelets, French toast, or waffles for a nominal charge.

We apologize for the inconvenience caused by the noise from Waikiki or the music from our onsite restaurant. We do our best to accommodate room requests if there are any challenges. Albeit our location is highly convenient due to our proximity to the beach, transportation, and restaurants; because we are located in Waikiki, our property is surrounded by lively energy and we sincerely apologize for inconvenience caused by the noise.

Mahalo again for choosing to stay with us and for taking the time to share your review. We hope to welcome you back for a third visit. Mahalo, Rebecca; Guest Services Coordinator

We stayed at the Aston Waikiki for our honeymoon of 10 days and were very happy with the choice. Down at the zoo end of Waikiki Beach, it was still an easy stroll to the restaurants and shops. A main hotel, tours and shopping trolleys pick/drop off travellers from right out the front of the hotel. Our room was clean even through the decor was a little dated. Breakfast was a simple affair, get to the buffet early to get everything fresh.

Room Tip: It's worth paying a little extra to get a view of the beautiful ocean.

My friend and I just spent 6 days at the Aston, its a good hotel overall, we stayed on the 20th floor so we had a great view of the ocean. There was a gap under the door so there was alot of air coming in. There is a $23.00 a day anemity fee, this fee is what they call breakfast on the beach, they give you a small cooler you can fill with pastries and fruit and take to the beach. A little pricey, there is also a $27.00 a day fee for valet parking. There is no self parking. Besides those 2 fees they are very resonably priced. I would recommend this hotel

Room Tip: Chose a higher room for the view

Stayed at this hotel for 7 days in March. The location is excellent across from the beach. Go for the rooms with an ocean view. Partial or side view is great for watching the surfers and the bustle on the street. Also take a room with the fuller balcony not the Juliet balcony. The rooms are okay. They are not spacious and are sparingly furnished. A Keurig coffee maker is provided and they are supposed to provide you with two free coffee pods each day. Our bathroom was quite tired and could do with a thorough scrub down.....needs up dating. We had quite a few housekeeping problems and it seems housekeeping generally is lax and not well monitored or managed. They provide a morning breakfast of mixed fruit which mostly ends up being melon, yogurt, cereal and various pastries. The pool looks nice although did not use it. Towel service is provided which is convenient. The Tiki Bar and Grill on the property is very nice with an interesting menu and fresh salads, good drinks and a great spot to watch the gorgeous sunsets.

Room Tip: Choose a full or partial ocean view with full balcony......probably at least floor 14 or higher.

Friends and I stayed at the Aston for 4 nights at the start of our 2-week Hawaii trip. The location was great for walking to the beach and any of the many restaurants and shops, plus landmark hotels like the Moana Surfrider and the Royal Hawaiian where we went for high tea and cocktails, respectively. The hotel elevators were a bit confusing--you need your room key to call one--but also quicker since the system appeared to be designed to take you straight to your floor. I was most impressed with the beds--very comfortable, no back pain in the morning, which is often an issue for me--and with the number of outlets--there was a strip along the right side of the dresser, which was great for 2 people in the same room with several electronic devices to charge. One complaint: total lack of hot water in the shower the first morning we were there, about 7 am local time.
